Ian provided us with an awesome addition to the wedding agenda. Many of our guests said they had never appreciated the pipes until hearing his playing! Thanks again, Ian, for your beautiful performance.
Response from Ian Coletti - Professional Bagpiper:
Thank you, Karen! It was my pleasure playing for your son's wedding. The Zen River Retreat venue was great as well! - Ian

With 38 years of playing the pipes, I've had quite a few experiences. I've played with 6 bands from Grade 4 to Grade 1 (highest level) and have reached the highest competitive level in solos (professional/open). I paid for about a 1/3 of my undergraduate degree playing weddings, funerals, teaching, etc., and throughout the years have played countless numbers of performances. Each of these has provided a solid base of experience for your needs from knowing typical wedding ceremony steps to gauging the right time to strike in for Amazing Grace during a funeral.
Bands I've played with: John Mohr MacKintosh Pipes and Drums (Grade 4 - Atlanta, GA), Atlanta Pipe Band (Grade 4 - Atlanta, GA. Served as both Pipe Sergeant and Pipe Major), City of Washington Pipe Band (Grade 1 - Washington, DC), Keith Highlanders Pipe Band (Grade 3 - Bellevue, WA), Dowco Triumph Street Pipe Band (Grade 1 - Vancouver, BC Canada), and Portland Metro Pipe Band (Grade 2 - Portland, OR - Current member).
Other notable items: I've competed at the World Pipe Band Championships in Glasgow, Scotland 9 times in Grade 1 and made the Finals seven times. Toured with Bonnie Rideout, Scottish Fiddler, at a number of locations around the US.
Common wedding tunes: Mairi's Wedding, Highland Cathedral, Scotland the Brave, Highland Wedding
Common funeral/celebration of life tunes: Amazing Grace, Flowers of the Forest, Skye Boat Song, Going Home
Bagpipes are pretty finicky and require tuning prior to a performance. Ideally, there is an area or room to tune up in prior to performing that's in roughly the same climate as the area where I'll be performing.
