Angelo Sax Shaw, elevates your listening experience with a variety of music. He performs smooth jazz on Tenor, Alto and Soprano saxophones. His music appeals to all demographics - from youth groups to the young at heart. His mix of Jazz, R&B and/or Praise and Worship music is an experience that will take your event to the next level. He is available for Weddings, Receptions, Banquets, Concerts, Cocktail Hour, Funerals, Studio Recordings, and many more events. He provides 1-2 hours of Gospel or R&B/Jazz while you mingle and/or dine. He has a one man band setup, so you do not have to provide speakers or mics. Angelo is an outstanding Saxaphonist. He is also very professional. Prior to the performance date, Angelo was communicative and answered any questions I had within a reasonable amount time. He arrived as promised to setup before his performance. The genre of music was just as I requested. My guests and I really enjoyed him. Angelo's performance set the tone for the evening. I highly reccomend Angelo and will be using him again in the future.

I wish I could share the video of how AMAZING he sounds! I had a harpist cancel within 3 weeks prior to my wedding; I am glad they did. This was a great choice! I received so many compliments from attendees who has asked who the saxophonist was. I wish I could give 10stars!!!

Mr.Shaw is extremely gifted. I requested Mr.Shaw for my wife birthday last year and he played on a carriage for us. It was nice, we totally captured everybody attention with the music and even the other carriage riders asked about Mr.Shaw. I also asked Mr.Shaw to play for a private dinner for my wife and I, needles to say he came through again. My in-laws was impressed with him and they still are talking about him and his music today. Angelo Shaw has been playing the saxophone professionally for more than 22 years. He began studying music at Stevens Middle school. He challenged himself by learning to play songs from the radio by ear. By 8th grade, he was performing popular tunes such as Sweet Love (Anita Baker) onstage for talent shows. He also performed at various churches for funerals, concerts, workshops, and weddings. Angelo continued to study music during his high school years at Sumner High and Eureka High where he held 1st chair all four years. During the summer, Angelo participated in the Honors Music program at Central Visual and Performing Arts School. There he studied classical and jazz music.
His grandfather, Howard R. Thomas, Sr. bought him his first saxophone during his junior year in high school under one condition; that he never give up playing the saxophone. So far, Angelo has kept his word.
Angelo’s parents were strict with religion, so they did not allow him to play jazz and secular music. He would often practice jazz and secular music when his parents left the house. Angelo was punished once for jazzing up Amazing Grace too much. He is greatly influenced my Grover Washington, Jr., David Sanborn, and John Coltrane.
Angelo studied studio engineering while attending Monmouth College. He also played in the jazz band and performed at various events around town in order to earn money for school necessities.
He has performed with many of the popular musicians in St. Louis and the metropolitan area, live and in studio recordings. Angelo realized how challenging it can be to pull band members together on a regular basis to perform gigs, so he purchased a speaker system and put together multiple sets of music for jazz, r&b, or gospel events on his laptop computer. He has gained a great One-Man-Band reputation for performing Smooth Jazz on soprano, alto and tenor saxophones or during dinner and/or cocktail hour. Usually, when he performs a solo at funerals, there is not a dry eye in the building.
Angelo produced, recorded and released his debut cd titled “Total Praise” in 2013. He continues to play at weddings, funerals, concerts, and various events throughout the year.
