Magician and Sideshow Stunt Girl Carisa Hendrix is an Award Winning Entertainer featured in the Guinness Book of World Records (2014 Book, Page 86), Ripley’s Believe it or Not (2015 Book) and on Travel Channel’s Vegas Strip Search.
Best known for being the subject of the 2016 Super Channel feature length documentary Carisa Hendrix: Girl on Fire which followed her to Vegas where she opened her original, all girl, Magic and Illusion show.
She has been thrilling audiences all over Canada and internationally for the past 12 years with her signature blend of classy, cute, comedy entertainment.
Carisa's show is very impressive on many levels — colorful costumes, fun and funny interaction with the people in the audience, baffling and marvelous magic. But what is most impressive is that she is a true creative artist, performing smart, original material with great style and skill, and a one-of-kind personality.
I happened to catch a performance of hers at Hotel Arts a few months ago, and it was breathtaking. She was elegant, beautiful, and did I mention the fact that she had fire in her mouth?
We hired Carisa because we had heard of her world record.
We asked her to perform 5 different 15 minute acts though out the evening. Not only was each act amazing, but she had a different costume for each and interacted with the crowd all night.

Even though Carisa was volunteering her time to perform at my event, she showed up and wow'd us all. Always giving an outstanding performance, she is an absolute pleasure to work with, and to know. I've seen many of her performances in (i think) all the variety of art she does, and each one is of incredibly high standard. Being a person who travels all over the world and is very interested in performance art, I feel I have seen a fair amount to be able to say that Carisa has the sexiness, intelligence, professionalism and sheer entertainment value that is but rarely enjoyed.
I have had the pleasure of seeing Carisa perform several times and there is not a single time where I was not completely blown away! Every time she gets on stage she presents a unique, tantalizing and exciting performance that captivates the audience. From the moments the guests around you hold their breath as they watch her next daring feat to the point where there is a unanimous applause you can be sure of one thing, she will only leave you dazzled by her performance.
I had to categorize this event type as "Club/Nightclub" simply because the first time I saw her in was during a night long event that she performed onstage, however since then I have seen her running a festival/seminar, teaching classes and performing in different venues. To be honest after each time I have seen her perform I have wondered how it could get better and somehow for the next show she has perfected her craft to a higher level. Her petite frame and innocent look are deceiving, as soon as she begins you find yourself amazed. While fire eating to walking on glass and many other talents she projects an alluring prescence onstage and beyond. Count yourself lucky if you come to a show she is a part of because you will be sure to make the next one as well!

Growing up in Calgary as a young child, Hendrix became somewhat of a poster child for youth volunteerism in a desperate attempt to make friends. Throughout this awkward phase she worked with community organizations, accumulated leadership awards and seemed to be on the fast track to a career in the social services helping people a feeling pleasantly superior.

So how did this sweet little girl, become the sequin clad, fire eating weirdo we all know today?
Well, at the age of 16 Hendrix’s interest in sideshow and showbiz was sparked by a chance encounter with a sideshow freak and the misguided support of a school chum. Soon, after only a few months of training, she was already doing small shows despite their unbelievable crappiness.
After high school, she took a job as an educator & program director at a not-for-profit working with children, but it was too late, her fall to the world of low brow entertainment was inevitable. She managed to keep both careers alive for a few years, but rewarding as teaching was, the shiny allure of the stage was just too enticing
Carisa was fortunate to work alongside a long roster of talented artists and entertainers early in her showbiz career. These individuals provided help and support, opened her eyes to a variety of different performative styles and kept her thoroughly intimidated for many years.
She studied acting, dance, comedy, circus, prop manipulation, vaudeville, burlesque, modeling, and magic and after being accepted to ACAD (the Alberta College of Art and Design) in 2007, she also studied performance art, design, and video. This varied, if not slightly maddening education is responsible for the signature style that Hendrix is known for.

The last few years have been an incredible whirlwind for Carisa. After touring internationally for 2 years, winning an acting and a modeling award, being featured on television and magazine covers and winning a guinness world record, Carisa has moved back to Calgary excited to get in touch with old friends.
Since returning she’s working on publishing a 2nd edition of here instructional DVD, planned a successful festival, got back to work on Firepedia the online resources, joined committees in support of fire arts and started a small art and training studio downtown calgary.
