Native of Ahoskie, North Carolina, Keisha Evans is an anointed & multi-gifted singer and songwriter. She brings a new and creative sound that blends Jazz, Soul, R & B, Traditional & Contemporary Gospel. Keisha's parents, Elder Gomizie and First Lady Joyce Hoggard, instilled in her at a very young age the love and ministry of Jesus Christ. Keisha grew up under the leadership of Bishop Leroy Jackson Woolard at Greater Harvest Fellowship Church of God in Christ, St. John, North Carolina. She is currently a member of Victorious Praise Fellowship Church of God in Christ in Durham, North Carolina, under the leadership of Pastor Wil & Dr. Grace Nichols. There she serves in the music ministry.
From performing at her 5th grade graduation, “The Greatest Love of All”, recorded by one of her musical influences, Whitney Houston, to singing in various venues along the east coast, Keisha’s passion and drive has been exposed through her music. Many R & B and gospel artists helped inspire & shape the soulful and energetic sound and style that Keisha portrays in her music when she writes and ministers. Her songs come from her personal testimonies, trials and triumphs.
Keisha has an innate passion for music, but mostly a desire to see souls saved and backsliders reclaimed. Her goal is to have her music and message heard globally. She often quotes her favorite scripture, “For I long to see you, that I may impart unto you some spiritual gift, to the end ye may be established;” Romans 1:11. She knows that her purpose here on earth is to help spread the gospel of Christ and the love that he shared as well as to let the world know that there is hope and deliverance if we just believe and receive.
Keisha serves as songwriter and co-producer on her debut CD. Her desire is that the ministry God has entrusted in her will evoke people to worship Him as John 4:23-24 declares, (23) “But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. (24) God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.” Keisha defines true worship as worshipping from the heart, whether through singing, praying, studying the word or giving…acknowledging God in all his power and glory in all that we do; but most of all, we worship when we are obedient to God and what he says in his word.
