I saw Laura perform a routine to "Roxanne" from the Moulin Rouge soundtrack. Her talent and skill were simply inspiring. Not only was the corporeal mastery that she displayed incredible, but the emotion of the song was perfectly mirrored by her expressions and choreography.

I had the good fortune of meeting Laura at a Renaissance Faire we both were performing at. It was not only a treat to see her perform, but afterwards we talked and I discovered this lovely girl with a wonderful talent was also a marvelously fun and enchanting person. Laura has the splendid ability to enchant and delight audiences of almost any variety. A real key to being a great performer is being able to connect with and engage your audience, and Laura does a fantastic job of that.
I have had the pleasure of watching Laura dance many a time. I have enjoyed her every time. Most people move to the music, but in a way the music moves Her. When meeting her you see a normal everyday individual. Seeing her dance however... She becomes the living embodiment of the piece. Her entire being becomes an extension of the melody and rhythm in a way that i have only seen in a rare instance. She seems to give her all in every performance. She is a Butterfly on a summers breeze, and a fantastic performer.
Few dancers that I've seen have shown the kind of true love of what they're doing like Laura does. When she is performing she seems to have this glow around around, she's almost always smiling (unless the performance piece is a serious one). It's so obvious that she loves to dance she cannot help it, it's an energy that she then gives out to those watching. Every chance I get to see her perform, I make a point to be there if at all possible. I highly recommend!

Laura Blake is a Fusion Bellydancer with 22 years of performance experience in a variety of performance arts, including classical flute, voice and dance. She fuses Bellydance, Contemporary, Locking and Butoh into a personal improvisational blend which emphasizes authentic expression and empathetic connection that creates a different world for her audience. Laura dances with a transformative passion that captivates onlookers and unveils a tale of precision, elegance, and strength.
A nationally award winning dancer, in 2011, she won People's Choice in Za-Beth's Viva La Diva Competition, and in 2013 she won 1st place in the Bellydancer of the Year Award as part of the Portland-based vaudeville show, Sepiatonic. She has co-founded multiple dance companies, and in 2016 she worked in Moria Chappel's project "Wild Saffron", Lulu Stone's project "Operation Pollination', and Ashley Lopez's project "Allegro Collective". In 2016 also she became an 8 Elements Certified Datura Style Teacher through Rachel Brice, and has completed the Key of Diamonds program with Zoe Jakes. In 2014 she moved to Portland, Oregon to continue her professional training, where she is currently training under the tutelage of internationally celebrated dancers: Ashley Lopez, Deb Rubin, Rachel Brice, and Colette Todorov in Bellydance, and Mizu Desierto and Diego Pinon in Butoh. She is also currently studying Contemporary Dance, Ballet, Pole Dance, Vogue, Waacking and Yoga.
