Our presentations are fully interactive, which means that everyone will have equal opportunity to touch or hold all of the animals that we bring with us. You are welcome to take as many photos as you like, and we even have some special photo ops with certain animals during the show.
We do not engage in unsafe practices such as leaving children unattended with our animals or putting snakes around anyone's necks. Despite the fact that some show companies will allow these things to happen, safety for the audience and for the animals are our number one concern. Our employees and volunteers are all trained in the handling of the animals that we use in our shows, and all of the animals are selected based on their tolerance to frequent handling and their temperament. We will NEVER bring a dangerous animal to our shows and, in fact, we guarantee that none of our show animals have ever bitten anyone, including our staff.
We bring hand sanitizer to all of our shows and encourage parents to wash the children's hands before and after our show, as both people and animals can carry and spread germs to each other.
Parents are more than welcome to stay to see the show as well. We understand that reptiles are misunderstood and that snakes and spiders are among some of the most feared animals on the planet, so we take the time to speak with everyone and can even help you try to overcome your fear.
We encourage everyone to ask questions, get involved, and, most of all, to have fun!
Are you looking for a unique and exciting way to celebrate your child's birthday this year?
Maritime Reptile Zoo is Nova Scotia's largest locally owned and operated educational reptile outreach in the Maritimes. We have been proudly serving Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, PEI, and Cape Breton Island since 2010!!
It is unfortunate that many reptiles are amongst the world’s most feared animals as a result of misconceptions, urban legends, and television/movie misrepresentation. Our mission is to put a lot of those myths to rest as we teach you about the native environments, feeding habits, natural behaviours, and fun facts about our scaly friends. Our outreach educators specialize in bringing an interactive and captivating educational experience to any event—perfect for the child in all of us.
Our shows are 100% interactive and everyone will get equal opportunity to touch or hold the animals presented in our shows. We do not engage in unsafe practices such as passing animals around without direct assistance of an experienced handler or putting snakes around anyone’s neck.
Our birthday party options include:
ZOO-TO-YOU PACKAGE – $175.00 plus HST
Let us bring the ZOO-TO-YOU as we explore the jungle, the desert, and the rainforest, right in your very own living room. Meet animals from Australia, Asia, Africa, North and South America as we get up close and personal with some of the world’s most misunderstood creatures. This 9-animal variety show includes snakes, lizards, turtles and tortoises, amphibians, and crocodilians. We do have a tarantula available but she only makes an appearance upon special request.
The majority of our reptiles were rescued from unwanted or unfit homes and now help us to educate and serve in our community. All of our show animals are specifically chosen for their tolerance to frequent handling and their temperament, and we guarantee a safe and memorable experience for everyone.
Our reptiles have been visiting birthday parties, corporate events, fairs and festivals, and many other functions since 2010. Please visit our website for a complete catalogue of our show options and detailed list of qualifications of our educators.

We do not require any special setup for our birthday party presentations or other events. We will bring with us everything that we need.
All of the animals will arrive in secure totes and crates and it only takes us a moment or two to get set up.
We also bring with us a lined blanket to lay out on the floor just in case one of the animals has an accident during our show, or to catch any shavings, hay, or food bits. This does happen on occasion, and we will always leave our location as clean as it was when we arrived.
The animals are typically presented in an order that allows us to start with the smaller species and work our way up to the larger species. We always guarantee at least one large snake and one large lizard for our finale.
We have a large variety of animals that are rotated in our roster due to shedding and feeding schedules, and to help minimalize stress on our animals. Due to the rotation of animals, as well as the fact that we typically have multiple shows each day, we cannot guarantee any particular animal will be in attendance, as it is not always possible for us to exchange animals between shows.
