We hosted an outdoor summer party with 50 guests and hired Matt. Matt was professional and returned my messages immediately. He showed up early for set-up and started on time. Matt is talented and we enjoyed listening to him singing and playing instruments. Many guests complimented Matt and we would definitely hire him again.

Matt is a pro and very experienced. We had a nonprofit event, and he needed very little direction, and it was exactly what we were looking for. I'm looking forward to our next event now, knowing our music is covered. Thanks to Matt!

We hired him to perform for our 7 year old’s birthday. He sang a gazillion different songs all so well, had such a great attitude even when the kids were being crazy and then even taught them to play the harmonica. He was kind and thoughtful.

I can't get this rating thing to let me leave 10 stars! Anyway, as I said Matt is a dream! He performed at my mother's memorial and he really made the experience unbelievable. His performance was wonderful and he even played my favorite (Songbird). He is a true professional! First off, Matt couldn’t be nicer! And he was actually truly excited about performing at our party. We had an initial conversation before the event and he was so great about all the requests and quirks I had. Like keeping the volume low not to disturb the neighbors (yes, asking your music performer to keep the volume down!). He said he has performed at every type of event and can read the crowd and surroundings and he sure did. I could go on and on, but he was a class act from the beginning to the end. I got several notes from the guests afterwards saying how amazing he was. He can play any song, and make it instrumental when necessary, but keep the crowd engaged with his great singing as well. We will definitely hire him again, and a few guests have already asked for his contact info. You won’t be disappointed!!

I have so many positive things to say about Matt that I don't know where to start. From our first contact, he was extremely personable and responsive. He called to learn a bit more about the event and our expectations, answered questions, sent over his extensive song list - all before we booked him. Once he was booked he stayed in touch, then reconfirmed location, arrival time and playlist a couple weeks before the event. I had selected two songs for the ceremony that weren't on his list and he prepared them quickly, one in which he beautifully accompanied on guitar a vocalist friend of ours for our processional song. Matt is truly one of the nicest people I've ever met and I highly recommend him.

Matt's company Tone Entertainment set up a musician for my son's small family wedding. They sent Leslie out for the event and she was fantastic!! She arrived timely and was very professional. A very warm person and so enjoyable to have at the event. She was incredibly talented and quite a few family members commented on how much they enjoyed her playing and how awesome she was. Next time I need a musician I will reach out to Matt to set me up! He has a great quality of musicians to choose from!

Run, don't walk... to hire Matt for your event! We hired Matt to entertain our guests at my 50th birthday party. He started the evening off with beautiful guitar and singing. We had Matt at a Friday night Event prior to my daughters wedding on Saturday on Hilton Head Island. He entertained my guests for hours and was very engaging with all of us. Prior to the event he shared his song list and my daughters were able to select songs that they loved. He played them as well as any requests from the crowd. He is a true professional for any type of event that you are having. He is personable and kind. He also showed up early like a true professional and made me feel comfortable from the start. My friends and I can't recommend Matt enough. He was responsive before the event, even sending a checkable playlist of songs. We had him play at a friend's 50th birthday celebration and he was able to play anything we requested. He has an incredible voice and is an amazing guitarist. What started out as great background music for our happy hour turned into a dance party and Matt was easily able to accommodate the change in mood. He was super professional but also a ton of fun! We have had many a concert at our property, but NO ONE, and I mean no one, was as great as he was. He was entertaining, knowledgeable, and down right amazing. He was kind, professional, and honest. Matt was an absolute pleasure to work with. He has an enormous list of songs he can play & sing and was willing to learn some just for our wedding if we needed him to (which we didn’t since he had so many to choose from). He plays the guitar beautifully and has a lovely singing voice.
Leading up to the day, Matt was very responsive to any questions we had and offered advice on which songs he thought would be good for an instrumental-only processional & recessional. He arrived on time the day of our wedding and had everything set up with plenty of time to spare. He included the ceremony microphone & sound system as part of his services, which saved us a lot of money having to rent those separately. We’re really grateful to him for helping making our big day as enjoyable as it was.

We hired Matt to treat our 91 yr old Mother to a personal singing experience. Mom described it as "being serenaded"!!! She has not enjoyed anything as much as Matt’s visit in a long long time!!! I hired Matt for a surprise birthday party for my husband. I asked if he could do a more mellow, acoustic set for an hour during dinner and then could turn it up for the remainder of the evening and he nailed both sets. Just listened to Mr. Commerce play for about a hour at Julianni's Italian Ristorante and he was delightful. Took my girlfriend on a belated valentines day date and I was not expecting a live performance and the surprise was more than welcomed. Danielle and I were married on 28 September, 2013. Having our wedding at a vineyard, and expecting a guest list of approximately 75 people, we were looking for a musician that not only sounded incredible, but one that brought that personal touch that we were looking for. From the moment we met Matt to discuss details, to the actual event, it was a pleasure dealing with him and his music choice and performance was spectacular! Me and my boyfriend wanted to have a calm, nice Wednesday night so we decided to support our local food trucks and went to mission valley. Not only did he set the mood right, he was very professional. I would love to see him more often around San Diego. If you ever need a performer, Matt should be at the top of your list!

We hired Matt for our small, outdoor wedding, where he played during our ceremony, cocktail hour, and dinner. We hired Matt to play at our Sunday brunch wedding. Music was a point of contention between my husband and I, me wanting acoustic music and him wanting a DJ. We went with my wishes, hoping it would fit the laid back Sunday brunch vibe for our reception. WE ARE SO GLAD WE DID!!! We were married outside, had cocktail hour at a different outside location and our reception inside a ballroom. Though all of these were at the same property, he arrived on time, set up everything and transitioned between the spaces without a single glitch. No even seemed to notice the short break in music while he moved from one mic to another. We had asked Matt to learn a particular song for our grande entrance, and he preformed it without a hitch, it was absolutely perfect. He accompanied a bridesmaid in singing our father-daughter dance which held high sentiments to my father and I, and never seemed inconvenienced or at all upset that we had requested someone else sing the song. Every single one of our guests commented on the great music and thought we must have known him from college, how else would we find such a great, friendly, talented musician surfing the web? He took requests, played a wide variety of music from country to jack Johnson to reggae to journey, you name it (or our guests named it) and he did it. Have you ever heard an acoustic version of "no diggity"? He nailed it.
I would recommend Matt without hesitation. We were having a destination wedding in San Diego and he met with us and worked with our busy schedule, and discussed with us via email for the year leading up to our event, checking in, always easy to get ahold of if we had questions, etc. He didn't over charge or up charge for set up or learning a song and was just wonderful to work with the day of for all our wedding coordinators.

Saw Matt for the first time at a bar where he challenged us on music knowledge. Not only did he have an amazingly eclectic knowledge of music, he performed every song with incredible talent that blew our minds. He is an amazing guitarist and vocalist, can't wait to see him again!

Less than a month before our wedding, we needed a musician for our wedding when our previous musician didn't work out. We learned about Matt through Gig Salad, and quickly fell in love with his style and performances we found on his website and YouTube. Needless to say, we were ecstatic when he responded and said he could play at our wedding.

Matt was extremely accommodating and was willing to learn two songs for our ceremony in addition to the wealth of great songs he already knows. Without asking, he sent us examples of the two songs we asked him to learn - I Would Do Anything For You by Foster The People and Here Come Those Eyes by Chris Rice. His renditions of these songs are fantastic!! His singing and guitar playing abilities are exceptional.

On the day of our wedding, Matt arrived plenty early to set up his own equipment, which worked great for our ceremony. As the groom, I had the pleasure of being near enough to hear all of the music he played, and I was really impressed with how easy and melodic it felt. He transitioned between songs naturally throughout our ceremony and it seemed completely complimentary to the experience. Afterward, many of our guests and engaged friends asked about Matt and if they could get his contact information - everyone loved his performance!

We hired Matt to play for a resident event recently for a wine mixer we were having at our rooftop pool. What a success! Can't believe we found him just by searching online. Matt showed up early, had everything he needed to perform, took every request residents made with everything from Bon Jovi to Coolio. Our residents raved about him! Our sister property has already booked him for an event and we are booking him for our next event as well. He definitely exceeded our expectations!

I have seen Matt perform at multiple venues in San Diego and have been so impressed every time. The first time I found out about Matt he was playing at the The Belly Up opening (to a sold out crowd!) for Pine Mountain Logs. He was playing some original music and some covers; my friends and I just loved him! Since then I have gone out to some of his gigs at restaurants and bars while I watch the crowd just adore him. I have recommended him to three different friends who used Matt as their wedding musician. At each wedding, the guests have raved about how talented and professional he is. He knows when to set the tone with ambient music for the ceremony and how to get the party started! This summer, I was walking along the beach in Santa Monica when I heard one of my favorite Van Morrison songs and I looked up to see Matt playing a private event! I've never seen another musician be able to take requests from people to play anything from Bing Crosby to Allman Brothers to Jack Johnson to Kanye West! He's amazing!!! I'm so glad I found out about Matt!

I have been working with Matt for the last 7 years. He has been playing music at our day program in which we work with 70 adults with disabilities. They always look forward to his arrival to hear all of his fun, inspirational, love filled music and personality. He always has time to talk to the individuals before, during and after he is finished playing. We feel very happy and privelaged to work with Matt.

I do promotions at the Belly Up, and Matt was one of the most professional and easy to get along with artists I have worked with! Matt is a talented artist! He is a gentle soul and that comes through his music. I have seen him perform lots around our local area. I admire his persistence. My fave song so far is Living With This Dream which echoes a lot of us who are struggling to reach our dreams. Matt is a local treasure. I hope he never gives up!

I've seen Matt many times and he always draws his audience in with his warm stage presence and beautiful voice. He seems to know a million songs as well as write great originals. He's a personal favorite.

So I'm drivin' down the road several months ago, don't remember the date, flippin' through the channels, and I hear a song that catches my attention and makes me stop flippin'. I think to myself, "Yeah!! That's Matt!! He's got a tune on the radio!!" I've seen Matt play many times at several different places and I dig his 5-song EP, "Closer Than You Realize". So I'm pretty familiar with his voice. The song I didn't recognize, but I figured it must be a new one. "Attaboy, Matt!!," I say out loud to myself. The song ends and the DJ blurts, "And that was Jack Johnson's newest..." I'm dumbfounded! I shared that story with Matt shortly thereafter. His songs are as good, his voice is as good, his musicianship is as good, as mainstream, internationally-recognized artists, and for me, that's as good as it gets professionally. On a personal level, Matt's a great guy, a gentleman, and a witty, easy-going dude, quick to smile and a friend to many. He's the real deal!
