In a restaurant style venue, I am witty and like to keep the crowd engaged. I play almost every genre and style of music, except screamo, and take requests...
a happy crowd
stays to cheer loud!
Tables extend their dinner to a few more drinks, sing along, and I've found that most stay for the duration of my 2-3 hour set!
In a worship environment, I focus on the words to guide my leadership and try to stay humble in my presentation and actions.
In a musical theater atmosphere, I can cover a wide range of characters because of my large vocal range expanding almost 3 octaves and belt. I also have intermediate dance skills in ballet and jazz. I guess I can also be pretty dramatic and sentimental at times, so I'm a pretty qualified actress. I recently was seen in two American Music Theater original shows, Cinderella, Fiddler on the Roof, and Titanic: the Musical.
In classical performance, I am highly trained in German, Italian, French, Latin, and English diction. I am considered a coloratura soprano, loving life singing in the clouds, breaking glass etc. I have been in several operas, starring in THE Marriage of Figaro as Susanna, the Godmother in Cendrillion, Mirette in Bluebeard's Waiting Room as well as other West Chester University original operas. I love choosing funny songs because of my goofy personality, but serious songs always hit a soft spot in my heart.
I grew up on a farm in Lancaster city(I'm not Amish, but my father was) with my two parents and three sisters. I learned to have an ear for music as my dad always played guitar and mom was always singing. My sisters and I frequently sang in church even at the age of two! My whole extended family is very musical; everyone sings and several party guitar, mandolin, violin aka "fiddle", piano, keyboard, bass, drums, and percussion.
The love for music carried into my college career when I majored in Vocal Performance(classical training aka "opera") at West Chester University. Shortly after graduation I started teaching myself how to play guitar and was hired at American Music Theater in Lancaster. I was a Singer/dancer in the original shows, "Music of the Night" and "Inspire" and will soon be seen in the Wes Cooke show. After that, started finding gigs for myself. Everywhere I sing, the number one comment I hear is "Wow, you have a huge voice for such a little girl." My sisters will second that after listening to constant tunes echo through the house non-stop.
I am currently still gigging, starting a wedding band, and leading worship at Grace Community Church in Willow Street.
During my restaurant gigs, you will hear favorite oldies, alternative 90s, rock, pop, country, blues, an occasional remade rap, and many other genres to please every face in the crowd. I have been, or am booked, for a second show case at every place I have played at so far in the short 9 months I have been gigging. Most gigs have been by word of mouth without much work from my end, but I am serious about getting this career moving to becoming a gig master!
Lighting is not necessary, but much appreciated. I provide my own PA system.
