Our daughter's high school graduation party was a hit with the sounds of Richard Maurer on the steel drum! Richard traveled to Pittsburgh arrived on time, was easy to work with and very professional. Everyone young and old enjoyed his music. He was the perfect addition to our daughter's celebration! Thanks Richard!!

Richard was awesome at our wedding!!! We had a beach wedding and Rich played during the ceremony!
From the day I first we contacted him, we experienced total professionalism. He kept us posted and updated on everything before the wedding. We hired Shades of Steel for the Grand Opening of our "little, outside bar" and it was perfect! Our first time having a musician at our place - so we weren't sure how the response would be? But it was a huge sucess. The music was perfect and our guests were so excited!

We wanted an island themed engagement party and after seeing Richard at a bridal show, we knew he would be perfect. He did not disappoint at all! My guests enjoyed him so much...wish he could have performed longer but he was already booked...yet very accomodating for our tight schedule!

My daughter played steel drums in middle and high school so she wanted a steel drummist for her wedding. I found Richard while doing an online search for a steel drummist. We were not disappointed at all. He was very easy to work with regarding song selections. He comunicated very well with my daughter. His equipment was very portable and had enough sound capabilities to accommodate the ceremony as well as a cocktail filled area with over 200 people. Very easy to work with, professional and great sound. I would not hestiate to have him again for a function and would highly recommend him.

Richard performed at our island themed wedding. He played all the songs we requested and filled in a bunch of other great songs in between! He annouced us as a couple and our dances as we had a small wedding. He was very accomodating and all the guests loved the music! It was a real hit!

We hired Rich for our son's rehearsal dinner and his music was the perfect finishing touch to a fun filled evening. The live music seemed to enhance the mingling of the crowd and was relaxing during dinner. His wide range of song selection appealed to everyone from the grandparents to the teenagers and even inspired some unexpected dancing. He was easy to do business with and very professional. We hope to have an opportunity to work with him again.

We booked Shades of Steel for our daughter's graduation luau. He played very well and people felt entertained and relaxed with his performance on the steel drum. I would recommend him to anyone holding a celebration because having his talent present made our party one to remember.

Shades of Steel's Richard Maurer, was WONDERFUL for our daughter's wedding. Dressed in a tuxedo, he welcomed our guests into a paradise of cocktails and steel drums straight from the islands. His "pre-wedding" professionalism set my mind at ease and I knew I wouldn't have to worry about his work ethic, honesty and attire the day of the wedding. I would hire him at the drop of a hat...and probably will again.
