Comedian Sonya Vai was born & raised in NYC, and her subversive brand of comedy challenges both gender & ethnic stereotypes. Sonya is a veteran of the New York Comedy Festival, and was in a show dubbed by THE NEW YORK TIMES as one of the top 5 to watch. She was a featured comedian in THE HOLLYWOOD REPORTER'S 2023 comedy issue.
Sonya has opened for critically acclaimed comedians Janeane Garafalo and Judah Friedlander. She performs regularly in NYC at New York Comedy Club, Greenwich Village Comedy Club, The Stand NYC, Broadway Comedy Club, and Gotham. I'm an International standup comedian who had a debut run at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival this summer. Last year, I toured throughout London, Paris, and Barcelona in over 50 shows. I also won a year-long comedy mentorship for women of color from Sofia Chang's "Unlock Her Potential" and have been featured in THE HOLLYWOOD REPORTER and THE NEW YORK TIMES. My very first television pilot made it into the top 20% at the Austin Film Festival. I'll be in the Boston Comedy Festival in March and I perform regularly in NYC at New York Comedy Club, Greenwich Village Comedy Club, The Stand NYC, Gotham, Broadway Comedy Club, and other venues.
