Steeldrum Hu

Hu created songs that used the name of our birthday boy and our town we lived in. He always had a smile on his face even when it was raining and the tent he was under was falling apart! We will definitely hire Hu again.

We hired Hu to play at our wedding reception last month during our cocktail hour and boy did he exceed our expectations! We loved every song he played and he really created the perfect tropical vibe we were going for playing our favourite socca songs! Everyone enjoyed the music and even though I couldn't see him play.. We had Hu and his guitarist out for our annual food event. Couldn't have been more pleased. I was nervous about arrival time given the long drive necessary from Toronto and long weekend traffic but they planned accordingly and we had no issues. Very professional, arrived early, played 4 or 5 sets of music, stuck to the discussed schedule and requested play vibe (roots reggae). They even stuck around for a farm tour and helped out with the chores! We will have them back and can confidently reccomend them.

Hulan (Hugh) arrived early (always a good start) to set up. He greeted me with a friendly hug and his warm personality made him an instant hit with my large family. We even joined in the gig, as we had a set of bongos. My family haven't stopped talking about the event - I haven't seen my family sing and dance - maybe ever ... but they did with Hulan. Reliable, uber friendly and professional - great sounds and he takes requests. What more could you ask for. Hire this man!

Hulan entertained the mother's at our Mother's Day Breakfast at the daycare. Children, parents and staff were swaying and singing.

I recently hired Hu to provide music for our "Costa Rica Beach Party". He was amazing! He helped set the mood for an upcoming vacation in Costa Rica for all my friends and family. I have never been able to get people up to dance before at house party, but Hu was able to easily accomplish this. I received so many compliments following the party, letting me know how much fun they had and this had alot to do with Hu and his amazing music, along with his sparkling personality.

I heard Hu play last year at a wedding and I thought him and his partner where amazing. they really got the people involved and everyone had a wonderful time. Last Sunday (June 23rd) we held a surprised 75th birthday party for my Dad and we were looking for a change to spice things up and I found Hulan on the internet. I spoke with him on the phone and was very happy that he could accommodate us.

This was the best thing we could have done! Hulan took the party by storm! My dad and all my relatives were really excited by the steel pan music and the quality Hulan performed at.

I had Hulan play at my bridal shower which was a tropical island theme shower. He played for 110 ladies and he was wonderful! He arrived well in advance of the start time to set up. He was friendly to everyone and smiled the entire time he played. He even dressed the part with his tropical shirt and hat, and was willing to wear one of our leis! He played continuously for an hour which is the time we booked him for before our lunch started. He played all of my requests and ended with my favourite song. The ladies loved the music, and a few even said they wanted to get up and dance. His music really created a great atmosphere and made us feel like we were in the Caribbean. We recently held a 60th birthday party for my Dad. As we tossed around ideas for music, it was brought up that we saw Hu play at the Oro World's Fair and he was really good. We thought a steel drum band might be an interesting style of entertainment for our party on a cold December night.

He was very pleasant and his energy and love of music was felt by all who attended. He accommodated requests that we had for music selections and he was very respectful with the volume of his music for our older guests who were hard of hearing and wanted to be able to hear their conversations as well as the music he was playing. The selection of music was extensive and I appreciate that Hu suggested he start playing 1/2 hour earlier than anticipated as all of our guests arrived earlier than expected to our event.

I highly recommend Hu for any party or event. Having a steel drum band is different than a DJ and all of our guests were pleasantly surprised when he started playing. A few guests even mentioned that they liked the Christmas music played on the steel drum, it was different and very enjoyable.

Thank you Hu, you really added enjoyment to Dad's party. We wish you all the best and hope to see you at another event soon!
