The South Carolina Broadcasters are an old-time trio featuring fiddle, banjo, guitar, and close harmony singing. They specialize in songs of the Carter Family and traditional Appalachian music. They present lively and entertaining shows that showcase their musical ability, from raucous clawhammer numbers, to traditional cajun two-step tunes (sung in French) the Broadcasters never disappoint. The Broadcasters have played extensively along the east coast and have traveled across the country and around most of the world playing music. We play concerts, parties, weddings, dances, public and private events near or far. Contact us to play in your town!
These guys are the real thing. Lots of skill on many types of string instruments and perfect harmony. I will hire them again.
Ivy was great to work with when we were coordinating our reception... the day of the event was perfect for our high noon garden reception and my husband and I couldn't have imaginged a better complement than the South Carolina Broadcasters. Their music fit our occassion just right & all of our guests enjoyed the sounds and their performance. Even without amplification (our venue didn't allow it) SC Broadcasters' dreamy sounds of old fashioned bluegrass tunes carried perfectly over the crowd of 200 people. I look forward to working with them again!
I could not have been happier with the South Carolina Broadcasters! I booked them for a farm-to-table dinner, and they could not have been more perfect for the event. What a talented duo! Their bluegrass music was wonderful and the crowd absolutely loved them. They were also extremely professional! They responded to my request in a timely manner (one of the only bands I contacted to do so), were very friendly, adaptable, willing to provide suggestions, easy to work with, and easy on the budget! I highly reccommend them!
The South Carolina Broadcasters are my favorite band by far! I've seen them at Home Team BBQ, the Charleston Farmer's Market, and the Pour House - whenever they are playing I try to be there. Their fiddle, guitar and banjo playing makes me want to dance and they sing harmonies that give me chills - the best string band around for sure - it's amazing just two people can produce so much sound!
The South Carolina Broadcasters played a show at Bill's Music Shop & Pickin Parlor on Halloween night. The show was first-class. Songs of the old-time mountain-music type, Cajan, as well as many Carter Family favorites. David's solid guitar backing, and Ivy's banjo, guitar, and fiddle work, and both vocals, are first-rate. They will appeal to anyone who loves good music.
This is one of the better bands I've had the pleasure to hear in the last few years. The wonderful merriment of musical tones from this group is just amazing. Sounds like twice as many people are up on the stage playing than there really are.
Some of the best Old Time music to be heard! A excellent crowd pleasing group!
The South Carolina Broadcasters are a fantastic duo. They know how to play to an audience, and how to gauge when and what to play. Their 1940's costumes really convey the feeling of the music. We love The Broadcasters and highly recommend them for any musical event.

We just sound like we sound (link hidden)d what they sound like, says Virginia State Folklorist, Jon Lohman, 'is an arresting trio of fine musicians, playing the music they love the only way they know how, resulting in a sound that melds a seasoned artistry with playful exuberance. David, Ivy and Sarah's voices together create a sound that is at once hauntingly ancient yet refreshingly new. There is a sense of immediacy to the Broadcaster’s sound, which can bring old chestnuts to new life, while providing new originals with the patina and soul of the well-worn hills that inspire them.'
