When is the appropriate time to start playing Christmas music? The day after Thanksgiving? The first day of December? When you go to the mall and realize that all of the clothing mannequins are wearing Santa hats? Whether you listen to your first Christmas tune of the year on October 1st, December 25th, or anywhere in between, Jim Brickman has a song that’s perfect for the occasion.
Jim Brickman has been playing the piano since he was 4 years old. Since then, he’s released more than 35 albums and has performed everywhere from Carnegie Hall to The White House, collaborating with artists like Kenny Loggins, Olivia Newton-John, and Lady Antebellum along the way. Although Brickman’s music could easily act as the soundtrack for any occasion, many of his fans would agree that his records resonate best around the holidays.
In this interview, Jim weighs in on the great debate of when to start playing Christmas music, tells us about his very own talk show, and plays a few rounds of a game called “This or That,” which he’s known to play on his YouTube Channel in segments titled “88 Seconds,” cleverly named after the number of keys on a standard sized piano.
