Avionne Akanbi is a professional live caricature illustrator and animator for her company and blog. She is a proud Nigerian American and from Western New York and a graduate of Bachelor of Art from Howard University. She speaks her mother tongue, Yoruba and English. She has lived and run a freelance business in Toronto, Ontario Canada for 7 years, where she met dozens of great folks. She is in currently working in Burbank California. She loves to have fun and make new friends both on and offline.
Avionne was such a pleasure to work with! Very good at communicating and very accomodating to our unique needs. We used her services for our Associate Appreciation Week and she was a hit! All who received her charicutures were impressed and enjoyed them! She took the time to add personal touches to each of her drawings as well. Avionne visited us to share some African dance with our senior center community for a Black History Month event. Our members had a wonderful time learning about the dances and participating as a group. I would highly recommend her for similar events. Avionne was personable, easy to work with, and very responsive, we loved having her!

Avionics took so much time and put extra effort into making this a celebration to remember. She drew caricatures and created a personalized song to celebrate a special birthday. I could not have asked for anything more awesome and the recipients were blown away.

I am the founder and Executive Director of the annual ReelWorld Film
Festival presented in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. I was first exposed to Akanbi's work, when one of her animation shorts was programmed in our 2008 festival. In 2009 we then programmed her live-interactive animation Mama Akanbi and Breathe Show, which was also a debut performance, as part of our ReelYouth program. The audience was comprised of kids 8-13 and they thoroughly enjoyed the interactive program that Avionne provided.
