I Will Not Be Silent tells the story through a 9 year-old's eyes of physical and mental abuse and a life consumed with fear, anger and denial. She slowly loses her childhood, having to care for her younger siblings and help run the household as her father's continual drinking escalates. Her father's alcoholism spirals out of control and his sanity begins to erode. Her mother finally makes the decision to leave him for the final time, but unfortunately that time brings life-changing consequences. She has made it her mission in life to be a voice to the voiceless, and break the cycle!
This compelling work puts a human face on the problems that go with abuse and addiction.

I highly recommend April Maley as an inspirational speaker. When April shares her amazing story, as told through her book, she captivates listeners of all ages. I have enjoyed the privilege of interviewing April both for our international television program and in front of a student audience. On both occasions, I was deeply impacted by what April had to say. After her talk with high school students, I watched as scores of them waited in line to tell her how deeply they were moved by her words. April is an articulate story teller with an engaging message of hope. Any gathering would be blessed by inviting her to speak.
Mitch Kruse, author of "Restoration Road"
This is a story of a nine-year-old girl whose life was altered forever by her father and his choices. That girl is me. I lived through years of physical, mental, and emotional abuse: alcoholism; rejection; murder; illness; and insanity. I have battled my own inner demons as a result of that fateful day. It is my greatest wish to create a much larger awareness and action for child abuse and domestic violence, and provide hope for those who find themselves trapped in those positions, by teaching them that with strength and faith, nothing is ever impossible. The cycle can be broken with you!
My story started almost 39 years ago in a small Ohio town. I have lived through horrors that I would not wish on any human being, but from that I have strength and determination to make a difference.
This book is a work that is near and dear to me. I believe that God has called me to be a voice and light to those that feel there is no hope. We ALL have a choice to make a difference, and step in when we KNOW or suspect something is not right.
Child Abuse and Domestic Violence are real epidemic in this world, and it is our moral and ethical duty to stand for those who can't, even when you may want to stay oblivious to it.
I do speaking engagements that involve my book, and generally centered around mental illness, domestic violence, child abuse, addiction and so on. I am available to speak directly on my own experience, help bring awareness through fundraising, awareness, education and outreach. In previous speaking engagements I have had the privilege to speak to an all womens shelter, high school kids, interviewed by Mitch Kruse on his international TV series "Restoration Road", and currently have multiple other events set to speak at, for the fall of 2013.
Please stand with me to protect the innocent. Be a voice to the voiceless!

I believe that all of them have influenced and grown me into an adaptable speaker. Each occasion has been different in how it is delivered, but the message still gets across to the audience.
