My primary skill is acting. I've been performing since I was about 11 years old, having started in theatre and eventually making my way into film. I started working behind the scenes when I went to film school. I've degrees in both Film & Theatre. I'm a Second City - Hollywood graduate, Center Theatre Group alumni, and I have performed in traveling theatre groups.
I've performed stand-up as well as written sketches. I've also been a house manager, box office manager, director, 1st AD, PA, editor, gaffer, and each grip position — primarily best "boy".
All-in-all I know how much work is put into creating productions and will show respect to each co-worker whilst giving my all.
Amongst all my spectacular memories of film school in Hollywood, one of the moments that stands out clearest is when I met Deidra. I had been running all-day auditions, seeing one budding actress after the next--but from the first moment Deidra stepped into the audition room, her passion and talent radiated sparkling clear. Her sonorous voice alone commanded everyone's attention -- this girl has a face to steal the limelight AND a voice meant for radio! -- and I knew immediately she was someone I wanted on the team.
It has been about 12 years since then. Looking back, I am honored to have met her when she was still a student in film school and to have seen her grow over the course of her career. From our modest class projects all the way to my thesis film, Deidra was someone I always went to first to rely on. She showed up no matter what was asked of her, whether she was the starring actress, an extra in the background, or helping haul equipment and set up lights. I think Deidra's background both in acting and film production is one of the many things that makes her so incredible and such a powerful asset to have on any project. She is versatile and understands how everything comes together to create the bigger picture. Beyond that, she brings a genuine love for her craft to the set. She is not only skilled and professional, she is dedicated and puts in the effort to pursue her goals. I have seen the behind-the-scenes moments many have not: when she has walked around our dorm, reading her scripts for the dozenth time over her morning coffee; when she has spent hours in her room practicing; when she has stayed late to lend a hand breaking down the set; when she been in the elevator with the screenwriters and directors of our projects, asking questions about her character and our vision for the film, often making us laugh and smile while doing so.
To see Deidra's passion burning so bright after all this time is truly a joy to witness, and of the many bright-eyed, talented minds I met during my time in Hollywood, I hope to see Deidra continue to go the distance and reach for her dreams.
We saw Deidra show at Flappers comedy club and had a fantastic time. We went with high expectations and we were not disappointed. We are definitely going to see another show of her soon!
Deidra worked with me remotely to provide high quality voiceover MP3 files for an immersive production in New York City. She played two different characters - one that spoke English and one that spoke German. She scripted and translated the German herself. She provided multiple takes for each character and multiple characterizations for each take (different accents, different motivations, etc). After one round of MP3s, we had everything we needed from her. She was timely, concise, talented, and professional. I can't wait to reach out to her again when I need another voiceover. 10/10.
I worked with Deidra during a presentation of A Klingon Christmas Carol, a play based upon the Dickens classic, A Christmas Carol. She played her role well, while givingly interacting with her cast mates throughout the performance. We all had heavy makeup, looking like we just invaded the Starship Enterprise. Her fierce embrace of her role was infectious, throwing vicious, yet playful glances in my direction at times, helping to bring us all into the moment. It was, indeed, a joy to work with her and hopefully again in the future.
She is the best co-worker that I worked with. Was an amazing job as Box Manager/House Manager. She will go beyond too make the day amazing. The best. To be honest this review is based on her skills as being a Box Manager and House Manager. As well as an amazing co-worker. FYI that event date might be wrong but it's to review her as a Box Manager, House Manager, and Co-Worker.
Deidre is an amazing comedian!! Professional, great timing and an excellent writer. The comedy world needs her voice.
A very professional amazing talent to work with.
I worked with Deidra at Flappers Comedy Club. She worked the door and I filmed the comedians and lit them when their time was up. I was always happy to work with her because she deftly wrangled the audience and comedians before and after shows with her calm but friendly demeanor. When she started doing standup herself, I found her observations delightfully caustic, delivered with her charming midwestern drawl combined with her art-deco-angel smile. With her myriad of skills, I’d trust her with just about any role, and I’d jump at the chance to work with her, any time.
Good actress who is easy to get along with, always on time, and a huge asset to a project. She is an excellent choice for stage and screen.
Deidra Kathleen has truly set a high bar in the film industry with her remarkable talents both in front of and behind the camera. As an actor, she delivers performances that are deeply nuanced and captivating, drawing audiences into every scene with her emotive expressions and authentic portrayals. Her ability to embody a wide range of characters showcases her versatility and dedication to her craft, making each role she takes on unforgettable.
Equally impressive is her extensive experience behind the camera, where she takes on various roles. She demonstrates a rare blend of creativity and professionalism. Her keen eye for detail and innovative approach to filmmaking enhance every project she is part of. She manages the complexities of film production with exceptional organizational skills, ensuring that everything runs smoothly and efficiently.
As a film director, I have had the pleasure of working with Deidra both as an assistant director who helped keep our production organized and as an actor. Her value as an actor is significantly increased by her immense industry awareness, which stems from her diverse behind-the-scenes experience. This dual expertise makes her a unique asset to any film, as she bridges the gap between artistic vision and meticulous execution, bringing stories to life in a way few others can.
