Multicultural and multifaceted composer, producer, and accomplished saxophonist, Adrian Sanso-Ali has captivated audiences on two continents since his first onstage performance at age 8 in his hometown of Birmingham, England.
After studying classical piano and clarinet as a child, Adrian was eventually introduced to the saxophone at age 13 by legendary jazz saxophonist Andy Hamilton, MBE. Hamilton took him under his wing, and Adrian and his brothers soon became Birmingham’s youngest jazz group. They recorded their first vinyl single when Adrian was just 14 years old. Soon afterward, his family moved to his father’s town on the Spanish island of Mallorca, where Adrian finished his secondary studies.
In the 1990s, Adrian left Europe to study at a private University in Texas. During that time, he went on various tours throughout the U.S. with the University’s music groups, playing the saxophone at numerous theaters in most of the major cities in the USA.
After finishing his studies, Adrian moved back to Mallorca, a popular tourist and entertainment hotspot in Europe, where for over a decade he starred in a variety of live stage shows produced by the Spanish show company Romantic Corporate, collaborating with countless international artists from a wide range of musical genres.
Adrian has since developed his own highly acclaimed solo saxophone shows, including a tribute show to the music of Michael Jackson. With over 40 years of onstage experience and thousands of live performances under his belt, Adrian is capable of single-handedly entertaining any large crowd using only his sax and backing tracks! His audiences have been as varied as his career, ranging from prison inmates to the former King and Queen of Spain!
Adrian performs his solo concerts on the Alto and Soprano saxophones. His LED-lit wine-colored Alto is his preferred instrument for pop, soul, rock, and jazz. His “baby” sax is used primarily to play Kenny G-style ballads, on which he can hold a single note for up to nine minutes using circular breathing! Known for his impeccable attention to sound and musical detail, Adrian has produced some of the world’s best instrumental saxophone arrangements of well-known songs, such as his rendition of “Careless Whisper” which has over two million views on YouTube.
Adrian is based in Mallorca, Spain, where he performs up to 10 concerts per week during the Summer season, and now spends his Winters in the Houston area of Texas, USA. He is available for bookings as a live or studio session musician or as a solo, group, or DJ-Sax act for weddings, corporate events, theaters, dance clubs, etc.
With a wide range of experience in the entertainment industry, Adrian is a versatile musician who is at home in any music group formation, and can effortlessly improvise in almost any popular musical genre. Adrian is fully bilingual; fluent in both English and Spanish. He loves working with other artists and is consistently described as a “great guy” by fellow musicians and clients alike.
My main influences are modern pop and smooth-jazz saxophonists like Kenny G, Dave Koz, Candy Dulfer, Gerald Albright, etc.
