Through my lens, every person is beautiful. I like to watch the light play across faces, waiting for the exact moment when a smile breaks, when old friends lock eyes and lean in for a hug. I also enjoy photographing people while they work, capturing their concentration and intensity. I have been an in-house graphic designer and photographer for 15 years. I have recently been exploring weekend and evening freelance photography for weddings and events. I've been having a blast! I look forward to the opportunity to capture and celebrate your special moments.

Initially, we'll talk on the telephone and discuss the needs of the project -- especially, what kinds of shots are most important, the location (indoor, outdoor, aspect), time of day and expected lighting. We might set up a time to view the venue and do a practice shoot if needed (usually, only necessary for weddings). We'll also go over turn-around time for post-processing and method of delivery for the files if you have a preferred medium (options: DVD or online download).
On the day of the event, I'll arrive 30 minutes early to determine exposures, get a sense of the setting and prep for the shoot. I will deliver the full package of color corrected digital files within a week after the event.
I have 15 years experience as a photographer in-house -- part of my role as a graphic designer -- for companies such as Electrolux Home Products, Admobile, Table Topics and West Virginia University. My first published images appeared in the 2003 Sears Lawn Tractor catalogue. I have photographed products and people, both staged (typically, industrial and work photos) and during events including fundraisers, award banquets and, more recently, weddings.
My mother was a photographer and from the time I learned to read, we had a subscription to American Photo magazine. I was fascinated by these incredible images. I got my first SLR camera -- a Canon AE-1 -- for my 15th birthday. I went on to study industrial design in college, which gave me many opportunities for product photography. As I transitioned into graphic design, taking photographs of people for my design projects was a natural fit.
I have recently begun freelancing on weekends and some evenings, and I have been having a blast! I look forward to photographing your special event.
I shoot with a Sony A7 Mark II, generating RAW files and jpg thumbnails. After the shoot, I will color correct and adjust exposures, exporting high resolution jpgs of any images I think are worthy of sharing or printing (generally, around 50% of all shots). I will provide you with all files (RAW, jpg and processed jpgs) as digital download. They will be yours to use as you wish --- print, social, etc.
