Airheads Balloon Art was founded in 1999 by David Weiss and a fellow balloon artist. At the time Mr. Weiss had over 10 years of experience in balloon sculpture and was the former owner of A&D Party Performers, a costumed-entertainment company. His colleague was an award-winning balloon artist and professional clown. They decided to combine their artistic and entrepreneurial talents to form Airheads Balloon Art!
In 2002, after his partner chose to pursue another career, Mr. Weiss enlisted the help of his multi-talented wife, Leigh-Anne, and excelled the growth of Airheads Balloon Art by purchasing Balloons Over Pittsburgh ( Pittsburgh’s 1st and oldest balloon company).
Committed to excellence, Mr. Weiss is a Certified Balloon Artist achieving the most respected certification in the balloon industry and has served as President of the Western PA Qualatex Balloon Network. The balloon industry operates with an eye on the environment, and Airheads Balloon Art has always been committed to the safe and ethical use of balloons. We continually strive to not only educate our clients on the proper uses of balloons, but to suggest what will work best for their needs while adhering to the balloon industry’s environmental standards.
Did you know that balloons are GREEN? Balloons are made from the sap of rubber trees in much the same process as is used to collect maple syrup. In order to make more balloons and strengthen our environment, more trees must be planted and the rain forest must be preserved.
Research shows that under similar environmental conditions, latex balloons will biodegrade at about the same rate as a leaf from an oak tree. The actual total degradation time will vary depending on the precise conditions, but it can be as short as several weeks.
Air-filled designs are an eco-friendly option that we offer if there is a concern about the use of helium, since it is a finite, natural resource. Just look at our photo gallery (link txt to Photo Gallery)to get a feel for the amazing things we can do with the new designs in air filled balloons!
We urge our clients, PLEASE DO NOT release balloons OUTSIDE when taking down balloon decorations. Helium filled balloons may be taken home by party guests and properly discarded later. Otherwise…please pop the balloons and discard the broken pieces. Balloon pieces, if ingested, can be dangerous to children or wildlife.
