Alex was warm, professional, and his playing was awesome!!! He increased the jolly factor exponentially with his beautiful holiday music, and then even lead our group in some caroling that was so fun (even if our singing was not really choir quality, LOL). I wanted to elevate my MIL's 80th dinner party so I hired Alex to provide live music and he did a great job. He played Jazz (and honored my MIL's request for a few Tom Jones tunes) during cocktails and dinner

Alex played for my mother’s 90th birthday party. He was prompt to reply to queries, he was accommodating, his price was fair and his musicianship was exemplary. He is friendly and has a wide range of material to play. We really enjoyed having him at our party.

I am so glad we chose Alex to play at our wedding ceremony. From the start, communication was quick and easy. On the day of our wedding, Alex arrived on time and played wonderfully. I loved the jazzy renditions of the songs I requested and our guests were very impressed with his performance. In addition to that, he is a very nice and positive person.
Alex play a great selection of tunes non stop for two and a half hours for my wife's birthday dinner party. I highly recommend him to create an excellent music foundation for any event

Alex agreed to play at our wedding with approximately 3 weeks notice. He learned the songs that we requested within that short given amount of time. Not only did he play those songs even better than we could have imagined, he delighted our guests with jazz and classical music.
In addition to his extraordinary talent, Alex was very professional as evidence by prompt response to emails, meeting with us prior to the event to get a feel for the ceremony coordination, and arriving early on wedding day to set up his equipment and started immediately. On the wedding day, Alex required little direction and was self sufficient.

Whether I'm the feature in the room or off to the side playing background music, my music will vibe with any kind of audience, from raucous cocktail party dancing to poignant walking-down-the-aisle music. I like to mix up recognizable jazz standards with r&b and pop tunes into seamless medleys that blend in with the room atmosphere but will catch a careful listener delightedly off guard. Strategic placement of requested songs, especially to surprise a loved one, also makes my day.
I've been a pianist-for-hire living in Portland, OR since 2013, having moved from Brooklyn, NY: I hold my BA in piano performance & composition from Bard College, I've been teaching individual and group piano and general music lessons for 10 years, and I've been the band leader for the Alex DeZenzo Trio, performing in the New York City area for almost 5 years starting in 2008. Aside from performing and teaching, I've also been working with vocalists for many years as an accompanist and arranger.
When it comes to preparing for a gig, you can expect the utmost professionalism and exceptional piano music crafted specifically for your event. My repertoire is based in jazz, the American Songbook and the blues, however I cater to whatever music you're looking for, including pop, swing, dance, r&b, classical, or whatever specific songs you're looking to hear.
