Alkiviades was born and raised in Montreal, Canada. He can’t remember a time when he wasn’t singing. After studying for many years with the legendary French-Canadian soprano Huguette Tourangeau, a Member of the Order of Canada, he went on to get a Bachelor’s degree in Music from Concordia University. He also had the honor of studying with some of the greatest opera singers of his generation, including Diane Soviero and Rosamarie Landry
His next big career success was being the lead tenor for several years for the Montreal West Operatic Society from (phone number hidden)2, a Gilbert and Sullivan repertoire company and also the oldest operetta company in Canada with almost 80 years in continual existence. His love of stage did not limit him to just operatic productions. His first foray into straight up theatre led him in 2005 to age 50-some odd years and take on the role of old Vincentio in the Montreal Shakespeare Players’ adaptation of “The Taming Of The Shrew”.
He moved to New York City 17 years ago to further his career in singing and live stage performance. In his first few years there, he dedicated himself to theater and musical work of his Greek heritage. He landed lead roles in Greek translations of various major theatre and musical theater productions, including Freddy in “My Fair Lady” in 2012, and Scrooge's nephew Fred in the classic “A Christmas Carol” in 2013. Along the way, he has also sung with some of the biggest pop stars of Greece, such as Vasilis Lekka and Dimitri Mpasis.
At the same time, he continued to pursue his passion for opera, landing lead roles with important New York City opera companies. He has studied with some of the biggest stars of the Opera world. In 2013, he also sang under the auspices of world renowned America soprano Cheryl Studer in a concert of opera arias that took place in Lesbos, Greece. One of his most cherished operatic outings was in 2018, in Manhattan Opera Studio's production of Mozart's “The Magic Flute”, where he sang one of the lead tenor roles, Monostatos, under the baton of esteemed French conductor Benoit Renard.
He made his Carnegie Hall debut in the Fall of 2022 in a concert tribute to one of the greatest Greek composers in modern Greek history, Mikis Theodorakis (composer of the film score for Oscar winning film “Zorba The Greek”), that brought together some of the brightest and most talented singers and musicians of the current Greek music scene. In the Spring of 2023, he came back to the opera world working with Fusion Theatre, an innovative opera company that brilliantly combines text from classic plays with their namesake opera and its music.
Alkis continues to appear on theatre stages and venues all over the city for almost twenty years now, performing in several genres, from pop and musical theater to straight plays. There is no place he won’t indulge his passion for singing - he is equally at home in a jazz club as he is in a West Village bar leading Christmas carols or singing the National anthems at sporting events.
When not performing, he has a thriving vocal teaching practice, offering one on one instruction at his private studio, as well teaching master classes and seminars to local theatres and schools.
