Alligator Beach is a 6-8 piece New Orleans funk/party/dance band. We are a great alternative to the "same old top 40 band". We play a mix of classic songs from the Neville Brothers and The Meters, other songs that we change up and “take to New Orleans” and some original NOLA funky stuff. We march in to the show with a second line parade and by the time we take the stage the party has already begun.
My wife and I were looking for a wedding band but not a typical wedding band. It had to be different but we weren’t sure how. We liked the idea of a funk band but a lot of those kind of sound the same. We posted the event on the GigSalad site and got a bunch of responses. We heard from Lance with Alligator Beach but never really considered a New Orleans band. He convinced us to come see a show and make a decision after seeing the band in person. He put us on the guest list for a show at Harvelle’s in Santa Monica. We were sold right away. The band was great. Lots of fun and lots of energy. The club was full of happy people having a great time and that is the experience we wanted for our wedding guests. We signed the band up for our big day. Lance even had a few suggestions. Our venue was in Venice next to the beach. The band started a second line march with horns & drums and followed us down the Venice boardwalk and into the venue. We would never have come up with that idea but it is one hell of a way to make an entrance! The band was easy to work with and played to the moment. The first set was kind of chill. Our guests were mingling and talking. The band played appropriately. Everyone was digging on the band but they weren’t really the focus. After dinner we wanted everyone to party. The band took care of that too. They took charge, got people involved and everyone had a great time. It was exactly what we wanted. Our guests were impressed and people young and old loved the music. We weren’t sure about the New Orleans thing before we saw Alligator Beach. Now we know.
We've see many wedding bands in the past and they always seem to have a cookie-cutter feel to them—a few instruments, a pretty good vocalist, and a track on a laptop somewhere in the background filling in all the missing pieces. They always sound good, but always a too stiff for a real celebration. When you leave these events you say "Oh, there was a live band there, that was cool." and that's the end of it.
This is NOT the case with Alligator beach. They are a group of the most talented musicians I've ever seen on one stage. And they play to their abilities. They create an environment that makes you (and your guests) want to get up off your chair and join them in all the fun they're having playing for you. Our family and friends are still calling us to talk about how unforgettable, impressive, unique, and "us" our wedding was. Alligator Beach took us to that next level. And we are forever thankful to them for it.
Each and every member of this band is at the top of their game. We were blown away by how tight the musicianship was and the vocals, out of this world. The energy they brought to our event was amazing. They got everyone up and dancing and throughout the day, people kept coming up to me commenting on how excellent the band was. I am very thankful to Alligator Beach for putting on such a great show and hope to work with them again. I'm pretty sure they'll be getting bookings from people who heard them at our fundraiser. Thanks again, you guys rocked it!
Response from Alligator Beach:
