Almost Famous

Because we are a duo act, we are able to set up in pretty much any sized space, large or small. We have the gear to cater to a small, intimate gathering, or fill a large hall with sound. Although we are only two acoustic guitars and vocals, we use a number of guitar effects to create a sound that is much more full and complex than what you might expect. When appropriate, we enjoy some humorous stage banter between the two of us and with our audience. Our large song catalog allows to cater to many requests which further engages the crowd. We don't come to a performance with a pre-determined set list. We always read the audience demographic prior to playing and design our song choices based on that assessment.

Wes and Steve met in 2005 teaching at a high school in Maple Ridge. Each of them were in their own separate bands, both having some minor commercial success. Steve's band, Uncle Nestor, had some rotation on MuchMoreMusic with their first single. At nearly the same time, Wes's band, The Little Brother Band, received some cross Canada radio airplay with a couple of songs. Three years later, as things began to wind down with their other bands, the two friends realized that they should combine forces and create a duo group. They named themselves Almost Famous in tribute to their previous successes and in anticipation of the future of the duo group.

We can provide our own P.A. equipment if needed, or can easily hook up to a P.A. service provided by the venue. We require five inputs (two XLR and three 1/4" instrument cables).
