AmyJo Mattheis is a transformational speaker and author. She is passionate about releasing religiously exhausted women and men, to claim their inner good and make choices about their worth, health and the life they want!
For over 18 years she has been interrupting the burdens on clients, releasing the truth that the good is already inside them. Her audiences describe AmyJo as; passionate, enthusiastic, funny, compassionate, thoughtful, inspiring, challenging, sexy and spunky.
AmyJo’s way into becoming the “good core explorer,” became clear at an early age. She says, “I knew I was born to splash the black and white world with red, yellow, purple and pink when I was five years old. Sitting in my dad’s church watching him on the sacred stage make the sign of the cross with a sweeping gesture, I lifted my arm to do it too. And I got in trouble, being told for the first time, but not the last, that there are hierarchies and boundaries that tell me who I am and where I stand under God, the pastor, and sin." It was the beginning of AmyJo's education in which she learned authority is not always right. The stories we are told with absolute truths, need to be challenged so that we can explore our good, and the beauty and diversity in each of us and the world. AmyJo says, “I see Jesus as a model of justice, value, and worth for all people, but the good resides in you and in me. This is the power to change the world for you and every person with whom you interact.” AmyJo has lived this out in her life as a pastor within the church, and now as a university faculty, nonprofit executive and entrepreneur.
AmyJo Mattheis has lived and worked in Ghana, Jerusalem, Washington, D.C., New York City, and in various capacities in the San Francisco Bay Area. After decades growing up studying Christian scripture, speaking at regional and national youth events for 15,000 to 60,000 kids and adults, graduating from a four year master’s program in theology and service, she was a pastor/preacher for over ten years.
Over the years her expertise has been honored with notable accolades, including; the Martin Luther King, Jr. Peace & Justice award for faculty from University of the Pacific (2013), giving a TEDx talk (October 2012), nearly countless superior reviews from her UoP students, recognition and friendships of international government officials and businesspeople, and coordinating and speaking at U. N. events as Executive Director of Solar Cookers International (Clean Cook Stove initiative/industry), also requiring business and travel to Switzerland, Peru and Chile. She has led or been recommended for “no-nonsense non-profit business cleanup” consulting, multi-state supervision of nonprofit program and resources, and over two years in the United States Peace Corps.
AmyJo Mattheis has been honored with Bachelor degrees in History and Economics from Pacific Lutheran University, and a Masters in Divinity through the Graduate Theological Union. AmyJo's personality and skills have come through in her recent interview on Open to Hope Radio (May 2013), in print at the Lodi News Sentinel, and in speaking at the Center for Inquiry West, in Los Angeles (January 2013).
AmyJo is ready to set your stage on fire and release the good in your audience members to improve their lives and change the world!
Speaker amplification is necessary for an enjoyable experience of events with greater than 35 people in attendance. Wireless handheld, lavalier, or best yet, a mini condenser headset mic is most desirable. Bottled water provided for the speaker is appreciated.
