If you are interested in hiring me, you can expect to have 1-2 planning meetings to select music, discuss event program etc. I will also be available by phone and email for questions and updates throughout the planning period. Typically, I have a repertoire of classical "background" music that I can play for any gathering/mingling portions of an event, and then for any significant portions of your event (for instance during a wedding ceremony), we can choose specific pieces/songs together. These can be pieces that I already play, or we can discuss me learning pieces the client desires. The amount of planning and discussion needed will depend on the specific event, and on client preferences. If your event has a rehearsal, I could attend that as well, pending availability and client preference. At the event itself, I will set up prior to the event, and then play as we have planned!
While I do have a busy schedule, as a surgical resident, luckily most gigs are on evenings and weekends - times I am more likely to be available! While meetings and events to take a bit of advanced planning for me, I am clear and reliable about my availability as we plan.
I have played the violin for 22 years now, since I was 4 years old, and have loved it all my life. I studied primarily classical violin, but have also played some fiddle and folk music. I began playing at weddings, business events, and other gatherings in high school, and have done so at various times in my life since. I studied violin seriously throughout college at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. After college I decided to pursue medical school, but never stopped playing violin. I am now a surgeon-in-training, for which I have recently moved to La Crosse, Wisconsin. While much of my time is now consumed by this, I still find time to practice, and my many years of rigorous musical training thoroughly prepare me to contribute music to La Crosse area events. And I hope by doing so to also keep music as a significant endeavor in my life!
I can play with or without a microphone, per client preference. If a microphone is desired, then that would need to be provided by the client/venue. If no microphone is desired, then I will bring all necessary equipment!
None necessarily needed. If mic is desired, venue must provide, but I am happy to play with or without a mic based on client preference.
