*FULLY VACCINATED* Ask Your Folks is steeped in traditional and modern acoustic and roots music. Drawing on Bluegrass, Americana, Country, Old Time and more, they create an original sound that is at once unique and familiar. Ask Your Folks' greatest asset is their versatility, with each player coming from a background that includes years of classical training and professional gigging at small clubs and large venues. Able to learn requests or tailor a set of music to a specific event, Ask Your Folks is right at home playing an intimate wedding ceremony or a raucous party. Inquire about expanding the group from a trio on up to add drums, pedal steel, electric guitar, etc. for a bigger sound.
Ask Your Folks are extremely talented and did a great set at Hillgrove Tap in Western Springs. The crowd for St Patrick’s Day loved it!!!!
We loved 'Ask Your Folks' for our wedding ceremony. They are very talented and great to work with. Highly recommend!
We had Ask Your Folks play for our wedding ceremony and cocktail hour and they were amazing! They were able to play all of the songs we wanted for the ceremony and make great suggestions for the cocktail hour that fit with the style of our wedding. They were very nice in meeting with me before the wedding to go over songs and logistics as well. I would definitely recommend them for a wedding or event! They are a very talented bunch of musicians!
We had originally hired someone else for our wedding ceremony and cocktail hour, but we are SO glad that we found Ask Your Folks instead! We would give them 10/5 stars for value if that was an option - they are so talented and professional. They worked with my brother-in-law who plays saxophone to coordinate my bridal processional and it was beautiful. We have nothing bad to say about them and will hire them for any other event that we host!
We hired Ask Your Folks to play our cocktail hour at our wedding in June. The band played exceptional and sounded great! Many of our guests commented on the band's great performance. They played a few of their own songs along with cover songs. In fact, they learned a few songs that we requested to play and played them perfectly. If you love folk music with a modern twist, this is the band for you!
Price Range: Starting at $450
We provide music that is both captivating and non-intrusive, perfect for any setting. With over 3 hours of music we know just how to fit the aesthetic of your event. We all know how to read music and are happy to prepare requests.
Ask Your Folks formed in Chicago in 2013 and moved to Nashville in 2020. Owen, Libby, and Eli have been playing together since their freshman year at DePaul University, where they all studied classical music. The trio knew they wanted more than just what the classical music world had to offer, and this sparked the journey into roots styles that has shaped their careers. The three dug their way through vintage Old Time music, Bluegrass, Americana, Classic Country and Rock and Roll, all while keeping an ear to the most innovative and influential music of today. The result is a fresh and energetic take on classic material, as well as the versatility to take on contemporary Folk, Country and more.
We do not require amplification for small, resonate spaces, and can provide a PA if one is needed.
