Ahmeer Wade Mosely, known professionally as Ayem Honcho, is an American rapper, singer, songwriter, engineer, and entrepreneur that specializes in Rap/Hip-Hop, Soul, and R&B. Born and raised in Philadelphia, PA (Now residing in Los Angeles, CA), Ayem showed a love for music early on at the age of 7. After discovering this initial spark, he began recording himself on tape and mp3s and later CDs. By the age of 11, Ayem jumped heavily into writing his own music. After years of practicing and concentrating on this passion, he started recording his own music with his own mic setup at the age of 16. Ayem figured out ways to record his own material because he could not afford studio time.
Ayem was born in Center City Philadelphia. He was raised in a few West Philadelphia neighborhoods, Wynnefield, Overbook and 62nd street around Cobbs creek park. Between his father and mother, both also being African-American Philadelphia natives, he has two siblings and one half sibling. Growing up, Ayem was no stranger to hardship and struggle. He experienced the divorce of his parents, had close encounters with the deaths of his peers and others in his neighborhood, and witnessed the rough life of drug dealers in the form of his sibling and cousins who'd constantly face danger from being shot at or in jail. Drugs and alcoholism also impacted members of his family. The main thing that kept Ayem out of trouble was creating music and if that wasn't there to keep him busy, he would have most likely followed the footsteps of his peers, older sibling and cousins. Ayem did not let where he came from or his personal situation stop his success. During his time in High School between (phone number hidden)2, Ayem recorded hundreds of songs on his computer/mic setup in his room and released them on social media all while going through a phase of depression and becoming suicidal. Music was his personal therapy as he would lock himself in his room for days and just record himself. He eventually created a local buzz and this exposure led to Ayem opening up for Maryland based rapper, Logic, in 2012, and to also perform at a show sponsored by VitaminWater in 2013.
Ayem Honcho officially began his career in 2016, releasing the mixtape "Another Plan A" hosted by worldwide known Disc Jockey(DJ), record producer, and SiriusXM Shade 45 radio personality Patrick Baril, also known as “Statik Selektah”. "Another Plan A" is about Ayem going through the peer pressure of friends and family trying to convince him to go the college and job route rather than focusing on music. After going to College for a year and then dropping out since he was failing miserably on top of being overly depressed and stressed out with his night job, Ayem realized that he couldn't go without his passion and that music was his only Plan A with no Plan B. After releasing the project, he quit his 9 to 5 jobs doing overnight stock for Bottom dollar food in north philly and doing security. He printed up hundreds to thousands of cd's and would ride his bike from his house in west philly all the way down to south street everyday to sell copies of his music. It started with just selling CD's on South Street but quickly exploded into a campaign through New York, Atlantic City, Baltimore and Washington D.C. to get more exposure for "Another Plan A". Things didn't get any easier. On one occasion Ayem had to go to court after being cited by the local police on south street for selling his music and merch illegally on the streets but won the case and went right back to doing it. The cops didn't bother him on south street again after that. Ayem eventually started to become popular in the tri-state area and was able to network with and/or perform alongside a few well-established artists such as Beanie Sigel, Gillie da kid, DMX and many more. To capitalize on the success, he started giving away thousands of CD’s, selling his own merch and doing free public events in Philadelphia, New York, New Jersey and the DMV.
In 2017, Ayem started his own movement and music company Ayem2pm ("AM2PM") Music. "AM2PM" meaning going hard at whatever you do everyday from day to night or in his words "from AM to PM". In 2019, Ayem saved up a lot of his money from working 9 to 5's and selling cd's and moved to Los Angeles on his own to further pursue his music career. Ayem Honcho's overall intention and goal is to inspire people through his music. He wants to influence people who may have been through similar struggles of having to work a 9 to 5 and not wanting to be there, growing up in a harsh environment and/or dealing with cops and more. His goal is to uplift society in general to let them know that they can do it too.
