Their performances are energetic and loved by people of all ages! They thoroughly engage the audience with humor, hijinks and fun. Audience members are encouraged to sing along on songs that they know. Everyone leaves the show with a smile on their faces.
Back In The Saddle is an all-star Western Music band! This exciting group was formed by Berné ‘Frenchy’ Poliakoff and L.A. ‘Durn’ Tuten, both from Cowboy Envy. Cowboy Envy was a very well loved and critically acclaimed Western band that toured extensively, won numerous music awards and was featured on the Putumayo Records compilation, “Cowboy Playground.”
Berne, ‘Frenchy’, is an accomplished singer/songwriter/performer who is comfortable with a wide range of musical genres from Jazz to Folk to Country. She has composed many of the songs that make up the band’s repertoire. Her onstage comedy stylings are famous. LA ‘Durn’ Tuten is The bass player in Georgia and can play superbly in any genre. He’s also a fine singer.
Back In The Saddle features new members including Grammy nominated Jazz singer extraordinaire, ‘Gallopin’ Gwen Hughes. Gwen brings stellar vocal and performance skills to the band. Along with Berne’ and LA she helps to form the “core” of the band.
Joining them is Guitarist ‘Maverick’ Micah Cadwell, who has played with many groups including Cigar Store Indians and even member of NRBQ! Matthew ‘Kickin’ Kaminski is our fabulous accordion player who also plays organ for the Atlanta Braves! Our outstanding fiddle player, ‘Tijuana’ Tim Higgins, always amazes audiences with his incredible fiddle “chops”. ‘Ramblin’ Rick Hinkle, who is master of all things stringed and a veteran of the Atlanta music scene, plays with Back In The Saddle occasionally and engineered their live CD “Born To Be Branded”.
Back In The Saddle’s repertoire covers a wide range of musical styles: traditional Cowboy songs; Western Music classics from 1920’s to 1950’s; Western Swing favorites; television and movie Cowboy songs from the 1950’s and 1960’s. “Frenchy” has contributed many original songs that are always audience favorites. The band is always on the search for great songs from this rich American musical genre, including writing them themselves.
