Back Woods Road is a Traditional/Progressive Bluegrass band that plays a high energy brand of Bluegrass, from Rhonda Vincent's I've Forgotten You, Bill Monroe's Sweet Georgia Rose to The Steeldriver's Midnight Train to Memphis. We play a wide variety of New and Old Bluegrass music. We have everything we need from a state of the art Bose sound system and lights. If your venue is outdoors we require an awning or a tent to protect our equipment. Back Woods Road will please audiences of all ages from 5 to 100 with their unique blend of Bluegrass music. We have been together for many years and take our performances very seriously. Take a trip down Back Woods Road, you will not be disappointed.
It's been two weeks since our wedding and we're still hearing from more guests about how much they loved Back Woods Road at the reception. We knew they were great performers going in, but the only thing I wasn't sure of was if people would dance much to bluegrass/Americana music - well that was not an issue the way they played it! They got the crowd singing and jumping along to the likes of "Jolene" and "Total Eclipse of the Heart" and more obscure stuff too - one guest said to me "I can't believe I just heard 'Union Maid' at a wedding - how awesome!". Richard and the band couldn't have been easier and more pleasant to work with, going the extra mile every step of the way and even accommodating a special song request. One of our guests who plans events in NYC was asking about bringing them to play there before the night was over. If we ever plan another event in Maine, we'll be getting them to play it!
My husband and I booked Back Woods Road for a friends and family reunion last August. There were guests in attendance from age 3 months to 85 years, hailing from Maine, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Florida, Minnesota, and beyond. Back Woods Road played music that entertained and amazed everyone. Instrumental talent + vocal precision = very happy hosts and guests.
Response from Back Woods Road:
Thank you Sue and Guy Pilote, we had a great time playing your party and hope we can entertain you again!!!
Price Range: $1200 to $3500
Gig Length: 90 - 140 minutes
The members of Back Woods Road love to entertain and interact with their audience. We take requests within reason, as a matter of fact it's how we added Wagon Wheel to the song list. We play with a great deal of energy and pride ourselves in our harmonies and individual lead solos. Jane Bernier on guitar and mandolin has an incredible voice that will catch your ear right away. Jacob McCarthy plays an outstanding upright bass and sings great harmony. Jason Wescott just flat out picks the hell out of his custom made Patkis Guitar as well as the mandolin, adding his great voice to sing lead as well as harmony. Everyone in the band sings making for great background harmonies. John Krainis is our newest member, he is an incredible banjo player that will amaze you, he also sings harmony and lead vocals. Mike Conant's sweet fiddle playing and vocals are equally amazing as well. Richard Bernier's approach to dobro is different and unique, his voice has been compared to the likes of Chris Stapleton and Bob Segar, We do a lot of different music, taking songs that were not Bluegrass and turning them into are own Bluegrass style songs. Back Woods Road will please any age audience.
Back Woods Road consists of Jane Bernier, lead vocals, guitar and mandolin, Richard Bernier, vocals, guitar and dobro, Jason Wescott on Guitar and Mandolin Jacob McCarthy, vocals, bass and Michael Conant, vocals, Fiddle, John Krainis on Banjo and Guitar. We are all from the same general vicinity Lewiston / Auburn, Maine. We are available to play Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. With enough notification we can do a Bluegrass festival from Wednesday night to Sunday. We are very professional and have many years experience in the business. Back Woods Road has everything a band needs to put on a professional show that will please any audience. We are happy to talk to any event organizer about your needs. If it is a wedding we can provide an emcee to take care of all your introductions.
