My mother is a continuous treasure of inspiration, showing me love & respect for music, artisanas / craftsmanship, and ancestral horticulture for self sustainability. Balboa Park, as well as Chicano Park's, cultural legacies, murals and community events, continue to have a profound impact on me.
Always looking to elevate my craft, I am presently volunteering with master muralists throughout SoCal and Baja California.
Under the tutelage of instructors like Glenn Vilppu, Karl Gnass, Mark McDonnell, and influence of artists like Stephen silver, Yusuke Kozaki, Lorena Alvarez, Bob Kato, and Ron Pekar, I've found inner-peace drawing gestures that convey story. No matter the meduim, digital or traditional, I enjoy the challenge of visually communicating endearing emotions and moments.
My quest for knowledge led me to train at the Burbank Local Animation Guild, Concept Design Academy, 3Kicks Studio, Gallery Nucleus, LAAFA, Glendale, East LA, San Diego City/ Mesa/ Grossmount Community Colleges, to name a few. In San Diego my academic emphasis was in multimedia and Computer Science.
Before art, I endeavored to be a Biologist with an emphasis in Bio-diversity, at Humboldt State University. I remain passionate about permaculture, and I am a certified installer for GreyWater Action for Sustainable Water Culture.
Above all, I am eager to learn from the best talent to enhance my storytelling craft. She is most inspired by artists who have confronted difficult topics for social awareness, historical, and humane truths. For example: Baroque painter Artemisia Gentileschi for painting feminist empowerment. "Griz & Norm" for not only sharing their exemplary drawing notes tips, but more so for sharing their artistic journey about balancing parenting with art deadlines.
After stepping away from the workforce, I am eager to resume my professional career. Furthermore, after stepping away from the animation industry, and starting a family 7 years ago, I am passionate about creating art that uplifts communities.
Like Bruce Lee, "above all, I'm actualizing myself to be an artist of life."
Space for social distancing required.
