Bees Deluxe is a full-tilt, acid blues collective comprised of Boston-based musicians. Their unique repertoire includes originals and re-interpreted 60s, 70s, and 80s covers from Billie Holiday, Miles Davis, Joe Zawinul, Charles Mingus, B.B. King, Freddie King, Herbie Hancock, Albert King, Etta James, Muddy Waters, The Meters, Little Feat, Ray Charles, The Butterfield Blues Band, Donny Hathaway, Amy Winehouse, Steely Dan, Etta James, ZZ Top, Bonnie Raitt, Bobby 'Blue' Bland, Robert Cray, Edgar Winter, among many others. They discover and share off-the-beaten songs and instrumentals and fuse them into their own original works. They dig deep into the vaults of blues/jazz antiquity.

Bees Deluxe perform varied styles (loosely blues based) from the Funk of Herbie Hancock's "Chameleon" - to the laid back soul-stirring "I Wouldn't Treat a Dog" by Bobby Bland. The band perform unusual arrangments and instrumentals that keep the dance-floor hopping, and any seated musical afficionado audiences intelligently engaged.
Bees Deluxe, a Boston-based blues band that has wowed audiences from Maine to Miami. The band bends the blues genre infusing the music with elements of jazz, funk and even psychedelia. The result "What Steely Dan would sound like if they played the blues," raves Blues Blast Magazine. Bees Deluxe performs fresh takes on tunes by artists Like Billie Holiday and Etta James to BB King, Robben Ford, Jimi Hendrix and the Beatles as well as their own addictive compositions that touch on subjects ranging from aliens, jail time and conspiracy theories.
The band has won fans at Boston City Winery, Black Eyed Sally's in Hartford, Earl's Hideaway in Florida, Jamey's House of Music in Landsdowne Pennsylvania, Madam's Organ in DC, The Bull Run in Shirley andThe Music Room in Yarmouth Massachusetts, and many other venues. Bees Deluxe has shared the stage with Roomful of Blues, Ronnie Earl, Joanne Shaw Taylor, Mike Zito, Joanna Connor & The Wrecking Crew, and Tinsley Ellis.
We can perform within extremely limited floor-space, and require less than an hour to soundcheck and prepare. We are also adept at playing at very low volume level. We are fairly flexible with contact negotiation, prompt, professional, and courteous. Every venue that has booked us, has asked us to return.
Bees Deluxe musicians are experienced players who create the mimimum stage footprint necessary to deliver their live music. They've played semi-acoustically by candlelight in supper clubs in a small cortner of the room, and large-scale festival events with the minimum of fuss. Their onstage volume levels are quiet enough that they don't actually require stage monitors, of course, when given them, they are ecstatic!
