Although they have been playing gigs here and there with other bands, the two teens, Dean Lazzara and Judah Swallow, wanted to start something serious. What started as "The Side Project" was two guys who loved playing music. After writing originals and playing acoustic shows, along with picking up Deans brother Nick to play bass, they were looking for a drummer. After a little while, Dean introduced Peter Crumb, a local drummer and long time friend from the church. They had an idea that there is true beauty in every person. And that people sometimes don't show the beauty, and the pain, behind their own hearts. With that in mind we teamed up with ForeverU, a non-for profit pro-love organization that raises awareness of bullying and the emotional effects it has on teens. We believe that love can overcome even the heaviest of things that teens go through. Behind the Heart is determined to capture the hearts of the very teens we play for. We continue to write songs, play shows out of our garages and at small festivals. But most of all, reach out to the broken. With Dean Lazzara on lead guitar, Judah Swallow on vocals/ rhythm guitar, Nick Lazzara on bass, and Peter Crumb on drums, these four guys have the energy and drive to play their hearts out.
