Belly Dancing by Annette

Annette has performed live with The Brothers of the Baladi, Mirage, and John Chookasian. Renown for her virtuosity with finger cymbals, she was recently invited to play zils for an instrumental performance by Doug Adamz of Light Rain. From January of 2002 to October of 2012, she was the house dancer at The Mediterranean Restaurant, performing every Friday evening. Since January of 2012, she has been the featured dancer at The Phoenician Garden Restaurant in Fresno, dancing the second and fourth Saturdays of each month. Besides performing, Annette is in demand as an instructor and will be teaching a series of workshops in the Washington, D.C. area during the summer of 2012.

Annette had studied ballet and jazz for a number of years before embarking upon her Middle – Eastern dance instruction with Ely Buffin of the Ananka Dance Company. She moved on to hone her skills in dance, performance, and teaching dance through extensive training with Cory Zamora. In addition to Ms. Zamora, Annette also has studied with Lubna Eman and Artemis Mourat. She teaches a beginning belly dance class through Clovis Adult Education and offers intermediate and advanced classes, as well as private instruction.

Besides her talent as an instructor, Annette is available as a performer for your special event. Trained in the classic cabaret style of Arabic dance, her complete routines feature the variety and excitement of this style. She also specializes in performing with a variety of traditional props, such as sword, cane, shamadan and tray with a tea set or candles.
