Bernie King and the Guilty Pleasures might be tough to bracket but they sure are easy to enjoy. A little bit blues, a little bit bluegrass, a little bit rock, and a little bit kitchen sink, a style of music that some fans have come to call “blues-grass”. You'll hear some great original songs inspired by the styles of Shane McGowan, Johnny Cash, The Rolling Stones, and Bill Monroe. With a rough and tumble mix of guitar, banjo, mandolin, bass, washboard, snare drum, and accordion Bernie King and the Guilty Pleasures are exactly what the doctor ordered.
Bernie King and the Guilty Pleasures played our wedding and our guests are still talking about how great they were! We were so happy with the entire experience! We put our faith in their hands entirely for the set list and loved every song they played! They were absolutely perfect!
Response from Bernie King and the Guilty Pleasures:
Thank you very much Kiri! We loved every minute of it!
The first time we had the opportunity (by chance) to see Bernie King and the Guilty Pleasures at Hell's Kitchen in Minneapolis, we knew we needed to hear them again!! My husband and I had the band play for our Groom's Dinner last fall at Breezy Point, and again this past May for his parent's 50th Anniversary in Brainerd. BKGP also played at a local music festival the end of July in our area, and it was fun to see people who had never heard them before enjoy the band as much as we do. We just love their "brand" of music and the variety of tunes they play - EXTREMELY talented artists and quickly became not only our favorite musicians but our friends as well. Thank you for always making our special occasions so SPECIAL!!

Response from Bernie King and the Guilty Pleasures:
Oh that was really good...thank you!
Being host to an annual music festival that typically sees a wide range of demographics - collegiate urban girl to the 80-year-old farmer in overalls - Bernie King and the Guilty Pleasures couldn't have been a better fit ... It is not often that you find such a talented group of musicians, primarily doing original music, that appeals across the board... Unique yet traditional, Americana meets rockabilly meets country meets bluegrass and even a tad good old rock 'n' roll for good measure ... Have you ever seen a mandolin played through a distortion box and a whah pedal!? Neither had I ... Wow.
Response from Bernie King and the Guilty Pleasures:
Thank you so much Michael! Hope you guys are doing well and we are here for you, anytime you need us!

Bernie King and the Guilty Pleasures came into being in early 2010 when they put together a group for a local jug band contest. The synergy between original members Bernie King, Julie King, Matt Smith, and John Kurtis Dehn was so natural and right that they decided to keep on making great music as a band. And that's exactly what they did as witnessed by the release of two great albums, 2012’s Bernie King and the Guilty Pleasures and 2014’s Pretty Little Gal.
2014 was a big year for the band as they dominated Reverbnation’s bluegrass category sitting in the #1 spot for more than ten months right through year’s end and into 2015 for the Twin Cities area.
2014 saw a change as original bassist Matt Smith retired to focus on his photography and the band welcomed new bassist Bradley Smith. Bradley's up tempo style was an immediate perfect fit and kept the band right on track for bigger and better things.
We're a four piece "plugged in" acoustic band, featuring acoustic guitars, mandolin, banjo, upright bass, washboard and accordion. We can supply our own PA or use yours. Please contact us for more details.
