BETHANY BARBER is a singer and ukulele player based in Southern California. Performing numbers from the Great American Songbook, old jazz standards, and showtunes of the early-to-mid-20th century, her clear, bell-like vocal tones and accompanying jazzy chord progressions on the ukulele transport listeners back in time…even despite the occasional interjection of a modern tune. Whether you'd just like background music or for your guests to get involved with music trivia and singalongs, Bethany Barber is sure to make any event one to remember.

Combined with easy strumming or plucking of the ukulele and Bethany's dulcet vocal tones, this set list can be toned down to provide the perfect backdrop for a relaxing event, be it upscale or casual or anywhere in between.
Bethany found the stage at a young age, thanks to her mother’s musical cowboy family. Her grandfather had played double-bass for Bobby Darin and Debbie Reynolds in the 1950s and raised his children to be musicians--a legacy Bethany’s mother continued with her own children. By college, Bethany had toured with symphonic orchestras as first chair flautist, sung for thousands of people at the Santa Clarita Cowboy & Music Festival several years running, played for local live television and radio, and won first place in Singing and second Overall with her family's bluegrass band at the famed Topanga Banjo & Fiddle Contest.
After high school, Bethany explored musical theatre, where she first discovered her love of early-to-mid-20th-century showtunes. Soon after that, her grandfather introduced her to the ukulele, which instrument perfectly complimented the old crooner, big band, and jazz standards she had been raised with. These influences, combined with her theatricality and angelic tones, lead many to describe Bethany as a “Judy Garland/Doris Day ukulele Disney princess.” She has toured the United States and internationally in Spain, China and Mexico, and recently finished recording her second album, Ukulele Lady. Bethany currently performs in Riverside, the Antelope Valley, and the greater Los Angeles area.
Bethany requires a barstool for seating and brings her own sound equipment unless provided by the host or venue, in which case a minimum of the following equipment is required: a PA system with sound control, a speaker, a monitor, two microphones, two boom stands, and all corresponding cords. Please be sure there is an electrical outlet near the staging area or a live extension cord leading to it. If the performance will be set outside during the warmer months, please ensure that the staging area is shaded from direct sunlight.
