Bill - Guitar
My guitar playing (I like to think) draws primary influence from the musics of Funkadelic, Hendrix, The Isley Brothers, Eddie Hazel, Jesse Johnson and the harder-funk-rock soul bands of the 70s and 80s. I began playing the electric bass in Cambridge, Massachusetts but almost immediately moved to guitar. I have performed a wide range of musical styles ranging from funk to classic rock to soul to jazz fusion and others in cover band and original music formats. Over the years, I have played in various bands in Boston, New York, DC and North Carolina. My ‘career’ included opening performances for well-known groups such as Kool and the Gang and War and numerous recordings in professional and home studios. I studied music theory and guitar at the Berklee College of Music in Boston and later focused on songwriting and recording. I put down my guitar twenty years ago to build a non-musical consulting business. My musical career resumed in December 2009.
Nandan - Lead Vocals & Guitar
Lead singer and rhythm guitar player. Recently in the same roles for the band Lump Dog. He also formerly played bass and sang in the band Red Border. He won an honarable mention a couple years back in the Mid-Atlantic Songwriting Contest for “Closer to You Tonight”. As the front man for Big Bad Wolf Nandan's vocals ride above the groove. Nandan is an accomplished song writer and the the front man for his band Mars Rodeo and the band Engine 14.
DL on Drums
While growing up in the DMV, DL developed a passion for all forms of music but mainly Go-Go, Jazz, Hip-Hop, Reggae, Blues, Funk, Old School R & B, Rock and later Neo-Soul. His first instrument of choice was trumpet, which he played in the concert band and later jazz band in high school after hearing Miles Davis in his dad’s record collection. Many years later, intuitively, DL gravitated to the drum set because of his fascination with bottom end rhythm and sound. His main influences on drums are John Bonham of Led Zeppelin, “Sugar Foots” Ricky Wellman of Chuck Brown and the Soul Searchers, Footz of Rare Essence, Jammin Jeff Warren of Northeast Groovers, and Buggy of Backyard Band to name a few. It is DL’s opinion that music is supposed to inspire people to think and feel differently about reality.
Arnold - Bass
A naturally gifted and intuitive player, Arnold began playing in the barracks of Ft. Stewart, when he went out and bought a bass and an amp and started to pluck away. Playing off and on Arnold had stints in several bands through the years. Through these affiliations he found the other members BBW. Arnold has played on a number of basses over the years and like to buy, sell, tinker, trade. Arnold is partial to Carvin Bass guitars. His current line-up includes a modified Fender jazz built on a mexican frame and heavily modified, a four string Musicman StingRay, a Carvin SB5000, a Carvin BB75, and a five string LonnyBass (custom build) that is my weapon of choice.
Arnold's influences on bass include, Thomas "T-Bone" Wolk, James Jamerson, Stanley Clarke, Victor Wooten, Geddy Lee, Chris Squire...too many more to list.
We will need sufficient electrical power, convenient parking (suitable to load and unload our equipment) and would prefer cover is playing outdoors
