To sing the Blues, you have to know the Blues, and Big Joe knows it well. For more than 25 years, Joe fronted one of Six Nations of the Grand River's most popular blues bands. Along with picking up hundreds of loyal fans, Joe also picked up a cocaine habit which could easily have killed the big man faster than it might a smaller frame. Eventually, Joe and the band went their separate ways and Big Joe had some big choices to make. After more than seven years away from the stage while he battled his demons, Big Joe is back with a new band of veteran blues artists and is proudly clean and sober, and more than. 100 lbs lighter.

Guitar driven blues in the style of Muddy Waters, BB King, Albert King, Lynard Skynard, Allman Brothers, and ZZ Top, with some chart toppers mixed in for good measure. Joe has a powerful story to tell about his recovery from cocaine addiction and does it through his music and his life and is willing to share that if requested.

Big Joe is back on stage having recently celebrated his seventh year clean and sober. Joe fronted one of Southwestern Ontario's best Rez-blues bands for more than 25 years until his cocaine addiction came between him and his band and Joe was suddenly out and the band went on without him.
When his wife gave him the ultimatum either he get some help or she would be gone. It was not easy and there were more than a couple of slips along the way, but with the support of his wife, family and friends, Big Joe is not only well again, but better than he has ever been.
Big Joe's background, as well as his creator-given talent, makes the BIG JOE BLUES BAND the best of both an authentic, powerful and seasoned blues act, and a positive message of hope.
Bassist Jim Windle and lead guitarist Guy "Wilkie" Wilkes are both veterans of pioneer Country-Rock band Whisky Hollow way back in the late 1970's and Early 1980's and have been honing their blues chops since then
Rhythm guitarist RufusCrabhawk is also from Six Nations and is of the Cayuga Nation. He has years of experience as a solo artist and a bluesy style gospel singer with a unique perspective of the Blues.
The latest member of the Big Joe Band is drummer Ron Lemke who joins the band from the award-winning Indigenous guitarist, singer, songwriter and actor, George Leach.
