Stefanie Heron Birl wears many different hats as a West-Chester-based artist. From abstract paintings on canvases large and small, to house and pet portraits, to storefront window paintings, to face painting at community events, birthday parties, school functions and more…Stefanie’s artwork extends across all forms of medium.
Stefanie has been drawing and painting since she could hold a pencil in her hand. As a child, she would draw portraits, houses, scenery, animals whenever she had a chance. She attended West Chester University and graduated with a BA in Art with a Drawing and Painting concentration. After stints in retail and then product development for The Franklin Mint collectibles company, she decided to go out on her own with Birl Girl Designs, specializing in children’s entertainment for parties and events. What began as an occasional weekend stint eventually grew into a solidly-booked-every-weekend Face Painting business where Stefanie painted for birthday parties, corporate events, community and township fairs and festivals, store openings and more. During the 2020 pandemic, when she could no longer paint faces due to social distancing, she branched out into custom Chalk Art by brightening up driveways, sidewalks, and more with celebratory greetings, which landed her a feature in the Philadelphia Inquirer. In 2021, she expanded into Window Painting for both private and commercial locations, painting everything from seasonal greetings to sports themed windows, which landed her on 6ABC, featuring her painted Philadelphia Eagles windows all over the Delaware Valley to celebrate the Philadelphia Eagles being in the Superbowl.
Stefanie also offers custom acrylic paintings and custom house and pet portraits. Stefanie’s main goal is to bring a smile to people’s faces when they see her work.
