Blue Son

Blue Son can bring a positive, fun energy that is not only entertaining, but engaging. The original songs are not just quality tunes with solid arrangements, but the music and lyrics come together to tell a story; and each one with a different feel and vibe. The audience can dance to the music and take away their own meaning to each number.

Each musician brings a professional attitude and a humble work ethic. The band's sole purpose is to play the music and ensure the crowd has a good time. Whether it is headlining a show, or playing a party, the band's material and style fits with any occasion. The musicianship of each member allows with flexibility, but maintains quality at all times.

Blue Son is currently comprised of 3 members: Paul Rubin, Dan Damon, and Omar Lopez.

Paul Rubin is an established musician with a number of released albums under his belt. Coming from the Sheepshead Bay area of Brooklyn, NY; Paul has a uses a mix of classic rock and contemporary sounds to create unique and catchy songs. Paul has worked with very talented artists and we were getting great gigs at major NYC clubs like CBGB’S, Irving Plaza, Red Parrot, and others. He even headlined the night the Limelight first opened its doors.

Paul has wonderful memories of how music affected him and how it altered his emotional environment at a very young age. Some of his favorites include “Tuesday afternoon” by the Moody Blues before playing a baseball game with his Little League team and “You Can’t Hurry Love” by Diana Ross and the Supremes before going to the dentist. Music always had a calming affect on him.

Dan Damon started in music through listening to classic rock groups Led Zeppelin, Doors, Pink Floyd, and others during college. He began playing bass in the mid-1980s and has played in more than 25 bands performing both original and cover songs in hundreds of nightclubs and music venues throughout New York and New Jersey. He is an accomplished bassist in a full spectrum of music that includes rock, funk, blues, jazz, folk, and alternative styles.

Omar Lopez started out playing woodwinds in grade school, and started performing with various jazz bands throughout his high school years. He currently plays tenor and alto sax on a regular basis and contributes to the bands' overall sound. He started teaching himself drums and percussion, and became a studio session drummer as well as perform every week at his local church. His rhythms contribute to Blue Sons' unique sound.

Blue Son is a self-sustaining band with a large inventory of equipment. The band can provide their own speakers, monitors, mics, amps, and cables. They all have experience with the technical aspect of sound and equipment. Omar is actually finishing his Bach of Science degree in music production. He has over 12 years experience with live sound.
