Brandon Mezzelo is a professional jazz saxophonist, living and working in the Springfield / Branson area. A veteran performer he has played with Buddy Miles, James Cotton, Jeff Healy and Floyd Taylor. His current groups range from a standard trio or quartet (sax/piano/bass/drums) to larger ensembles that fit the clients needs.
Brandon can also be hired to play in a duo or trio formation (normally sax and guitar/piano), a soloist with a group or guest artist. All genres of jazz are covered, he is currently hosting the legendary Thursday Night Sessions (The Haüs Jazz Band) at Dugout Bar & Grill.
The band was phenomenal. Somehow they made the full band sound so intimate and didn’t overpower conversations throughout the venue. On top of that Brandon is a ridiculous horn player. I would recommend booking Brandon without thinking twice.
He was personable...it was an awesome session
Booked, and he even left a message the day prior to the event saying what time he would arrive. I attempted to call and text him multiple times starting about 35 minutes prior to the event. I never received any kind of response. If something comes up, fine, but at least have the decency to let me know you're not coming. I had a crowd of people waiting and it was hugely embarrassing.
Brandon came in with lots of fire and was cool to hangout with
They were amazing, professional and added the touch we needed to our Bow Renewal
Response from Brandon Mezzelo:
It was such a pleasure to play for you! Thanks for the kind review---the 20's theme was great, it fit the music perfectly!
Brandon is flexible and great to work with. So far, we have hired him and his band mates to come perform for a large group on two separate occasions and we were thoroughly impressed both times! I highly recommend Brandon Mezzelo Triptet if you need some professional and classy entertainment for your event!
We had Brandon’s trio at our Christmas Party and it was a wonderful performance. The musicians were professional and provided great ambiance to the event. Thank you!
Brandon played at our cocktail and rehearsal dinner. He was easy to work with leading up to our event. Brandon showed early, set up and played great music for our event. I would book Brandon again and would recommend him to my friends.
Will invite them to perform again!
I have been listening to Brandon play his beloved Selmer Mark VI named Bessie since 1999 when he first played a set at Springfield Brewing Company. Since that first set, Brandon has continued to bring his special blend of jazz, blues, funk and soul whenever he plays. I enjoy listening to a wide range of musical styles, but my favorite style is jazz, especially when there is a good tenor in the mix. And Brandon is a damn fine tenor sax player! He's also a good friend of mine.
Cheers!

Brandon Mezzelo was born in Peoria, Ill. He began his career playing with jazz and blues bands at the age of 16. During the next eight years he would be the lead tenor player for 3 Army bands; Wurzburg, Bamberg, Weisbaden: Germany. He has traveled most of Western and Eastern Europe playing hundreds of concerts for large audiences. During this time he co-founded the Acid Jazz group "Superfro" with his long time friend and trumpet player Keith Moyer. This band had success in venues that many jazz bands were unable to perform in, dance clubs and festivals specifically. This group is still together today carried on in great tradition by the other three original members. it was also in Germany that he built a life long friendship and musical partnership with well known German guitarist/producer Uwe Bossert (Stereolove, Reamon)

During this time he was able to form great friendships with local musicians and greats like Richard Bruton and Johnny Strickler. In 2005 he moved to St. Louis, MO. to further his professional career. He was fortunate enough to play with some of St. Louis' finest musicians; Charlie Glynn, Kim Massie, Anita Rosemond, Ron Carr, and is on the last CD release of legendary St. Louis guitar player, Billy Barnett. In 2007, Mr. Mezzelo went on tour with R & B great Floyd Taylor (son of Johnny Taylor) helped to headline the Detroit Blues Festival, along side such classic artists as Bobby Bland and Bobby Rush. In 2008 Brandon returned to Springfield, MO. to once again play with some familiar faces and become a well respected and notable local jazz musician. In his own jazz groups Brandon led a quartet, trio and duo. These formations include; Deszo Olah, Hars Viktor, Szalay Gabor and Kalmar Zoltan.
