Something confusing happened with gigsalad and Bray hadn't even gotten notice of the event, much less a chance to review the playlist until 18 hours before. (This happens on GS so watch out.) Thankfully after I clicked the book button on gigSalad, I could connect with him by phone. He was really responsive once we connected by text.
I asked Bray to prepare for my 13-year-old's birthday party... Sort of small potatoes versus the big weddings and events usually played. But he was game and somehow he managed to practice the Harry Styles songs + a few others that she loved. He was incredibly flexible about trying to make the event really fun and played along with how I wanted to arrange the surprise. He adjusted the start time at the last second with me. He brought his own mic and speaker, set up fast and was ready to roll.
He was very good / totally relatable with small group of 13-year-olds and totally made the event wonderful! (Side note: I'm not sure his age but very youthful looking. The girls thought he was hot.) They absolutely loved it. My daughter was beaming all night!
Great guitar planning. Total rhythm with energy! He was good, maybe bit pitchy here and there on the singing (pure acoustic). I think it was a lot for him to try to master these songs, plus he had two other gigs earlier and it was 100° out. So with only a few hours to prepare, I thought he did well.
I would totally book him again. I chatted with him after he's got lots of experience corporate events. He knows all of the party favorites, rock and Prince. So plenty of variety. He is in a few bands and I think if they were all plugged in they would totally rock an event. (I found some videos online including Neon Velvet and Bray & Dens). He fits bill of a great lead singer for a band. cool style. Plus seriously good soul/vibe!
