Since 2013, Matt has evolved as a freelance artist; capturing natural and raw moments. He operates with the latest equipment and knowledgeof hidden gems throughout Cuyahogaand Summit county. He has a great appreciation for portraits, nature, product, events, and architecture photography. He has love and passion for exploring and sharing the infinite bright matter that is present in all of us.

I got married abroad and I was looking for a photographer for our second wedding ceremony back home. I came across Matt’s website and knew he would be the perfect fit for us. The ceremony was small and low key with no bridal party/groomsmen. We just mainly wanted group photos with different family members and friends post ceremony, in addition to pictures during the ceremony. Matt was responsive and always easy to get in touch with, not to mention a really kind and nice person. Since this was the second time around, we did not want to do any artsy couples photos around the city or any getting ready pictures, and he was very understanding to what are needs were.
Matt was amazing to work with! He was easygoing and laid back. I would definitely book him again for another family event or special occasion in the future. I highly recommend working with him! Thank you Matt for being there to capture our special day!
Everything about working with Matt (Bright Matter Photography) was amazing.
To start, I had first reached out to Matt 1.5 weeks before our Wedding was going to happen. All responses were prompt and very thoughtful. He had set up an initial call with me to walk through what we would like for our big day, at the time I still had no details and he was completely okay with that- his entire demeanor through out the whole process was professional and very calming (especially for a super stressed covid bride).
When the big day did come, he had arrived early, helped the groom find the best place for our ceremony and took amazing candids of all the men that were there at the wedding, all of which turned out stunning!
As I arrived, Matt was sure to catch special moments with my parents as they helped me out of the car and even better photos of my father walking me down the aisle. As the ceremony concluded, Matt was sure to get pictures with everyone in my family and some really great group shots that we will cherish for a lifetime.
Within 3 days Matt had already sent us some preview shots of our big day, and had the rest of the photos edited and in my hands by the following weekend.
I cannot encourage anyone enough to hire Bright Mater Photography for any of your photo needs.

Matt did a wonderful job capturing our company event. With a beautiful mix of candid shots and staged ones, he made sure we are able to look back for years to come and see what a great time everyone had. He is incredibly professional, keeping me updated before during and after the event. With so much planning and the stress associated, I never had to worry once about the photography piece because I had the confidence Matt was on it. We will be using him for events to come! Book him! Matt was a fantastic Photographer that exceeded my needs & expectations. He was professional, polite, prompt & creative. I had a party for my daughter who was turning One. I had 30 adult and 20 children which made the party a lot to navigate thru and Matt did it with patience and ease. I [Matt DeGrand], came into this world in the fall of ‘87 and it took me until the spring of 2011 to figure out I was destined to create my own flow.
In 2012, I set out to develop my photography skills and continue to look for subjects/events that showcase the life, love, and energy that flow in the air around it. From photography workshops to self-education, I continue to sharpen my eye for photography as well as keeping up with the latest equipment out there. As your photographer, I hope for an opportunity to continue perfecting the art of photography all while telling your story.

I typically use a Canon 80D and post-edit through Adobe Lightroom plus Photoshop, but I have experience with Nikon, Sony, as well as GoPro.
I have a mobile studio that allows me to travel to clients if needed.
