Born and raised in Chicago, BrittanE is an artist/producer/songwriter who brings a breath of fresh air to the world of Hip Hop, as well as the music industry as a whole. Growing up as the daughter of a worship leader/songwriter, she drew inspiration from her mother as well as the artist she credits for paving the way for her to be the artist she is today, Ms. Lauryn Hill. Her debut EP, "Higher Learning", has clearly set her apart from other artists and in her own words expresses her feelings about being different. BrittanE has performed with forces such as the Lyric Opera Chicago, Sammy Dyer School of the Theatre, as well as venues such as The Hideout, Raven's Place, and The Gary Comer Youth Center in Chicago. She refers to her music as true "soul music", due to the fact that her focus as an artist is not on herself or for personal gain, but for her supporters. "I don't make music for money or because I want to be rich. And I don't do it for attention or fame. I see the world, and especially my generation, having a hard time getting a grasp on life and what it's really about, and I know that music plays a big role in that. I want to see the world and future generations be better, so I make music that will set people free, comfort them through hard periods in their lives, convict at times, but most importantly encourage the development of a quality people."
