The initial focal point of most bands is the singer and Dean Lambert provides one of the most dynamic and commanding voices in the Southeast. Dean blends both a bluesy feel and power-house range to drive the melodies that are a trademark of the BY sound.
Brian Rhodes is one half of the dual guitar attack that makes Broken Yesterday’s sound so unique. Along with contributing rhythm and lead duties on guitar, Brian is also one of the principal song writers for the band. Drawing on early influences like Stevie Ray Vaughan, Brian has developed an “old school” bluesy style of playing that brings a flare to his playing and songwriting that is purely infectious.
Jason "JP" Perterson’s style has a more technical approach. He brings that edge to the songs that keep them fresh and relevant to the modern playing style. Simply put, JP’s playing is both ferocious and tasteful. It’s the unique combination of their contrasting styles that give the band its unique sound. Grounded in solid, bluesy “old-school” riffs with a shot of modern style and flash sets Broken Yesterday apart from the pack.
Broken Yesterday has arguably the best bass and drum combo in the area featuring brothers Scott (drums) and Wade (bass guitar) Fryer. Having played with Wade for almost 20 years in such bands as Charlotte, NC staple Foul Jefe and the aforementioned 491, Scott has built the reputation with the local music scene as one of the most dynamic and solid drummers around.
Broken Yesterday is a band that is built to rock....with a heart for God. At its nucleus, BY has been together for over 10 years. Having played together in previous club bands, guitarist Brian Rhodes, bassist Wade Fryer and drummer Scott Fryer always knew that they wanted to put together a band like BY. All three of them are fans of classic rock, like KISS, Journey, and Stryper.
But they are also fans of modern rock, such as dc Talk and DecembeRadio. They put together a band that would feature a twin guitar attack with big, anthemic choruses, soaring vocals and a rock solid rhythm section. With the addition of Jason Peterson, they encompassed that modern guitar feel they wanted. The combination of Jason and Brian's playing styles has given BY a unique sound in the modern day landscape of popular music.
But of course no band is complete without "the voice". With vocal influences like Michael English and Michael Bolton, Dean Lambert brings incredible range and a keen sense of harmonies that have taken the BY sound to a whole new level. Add in a high-energy live set and this is certain a band to be reckoned with.

Adam the first man made us all unrighteous. We were broken in our sin, but the second man Jesus Christ drove a stake in life's time line (The Cross) So that all men would be righteous and made whole! We were Broken Yesterday (2000 years ago), but because of Christ we are righteous, and Made whole today!
