The Bronze Cowboy is a mesmerizing living statue act, where I embody a life-sized sculpture of an old-west cowboy, meticulously detailed in shimmering bronze. Standing motionless, I capture the essence of the rugged frontier with a steely gaze and authentic cowboy attire. When spectators least expect it, I spring to life with smooth, deliberate movements, bringing the stoic figure to life with a blend of humor and surprise, creating an unforgettable interactive experience.

When I was 11, I took a trip to Vancouver, Canada, with my family. I remember the crisp air and the bustling energy of the waterfront, where street performers dazzled crowds with their talents. But it was one performer in particular who captured my imagination and sparked a passion I never expected.
He was a living statue, standing perfectly still by the water’s edge. His skin and clothes were painted a smooth, stony grey, and he wore a suit and top hat, looking like a dapper gentleman frozen in time. He held a small squirt gun in his hand, and I watched in amazement as people walked by, unaware of his presence until they were close enough to be playfully squirted with water. The surprise and laughter that followed were infectious.
I couldn’t take my eyes off him. His ability to remain so still, so calm, yet ready to spring to life at just the right moment, fascinated me. For a kid with ADHD, the idea of standing so still seemed impossible, but at the same time, it was oddly captivating. I realized that there was something meditative about it—a way to focus, to center myself in a way that nothing else had ever done before.
As the years went by, that moment stuck with me. I began to think about how I could create my own living statue character. I live in Montana, and the image of a cowboy felt like the perfect fit—someone polite, respectful, and a symbol of the rugged, wild spirit of the West. And, of course, it didn’t hurt that I always loved playing with my toy pistol, spinning it around, fidgeting with it when I needed to focus.
When the pandemic hit, like so many others, I found myself needing a little extra cash. My brother, knowing how much I loved the idea of being a living statue, pushed me to finally make the costume and give it a go. It was the perfect time to bring the Bronze Cowboy to life. I chose bronze for its warm, inviting hue, which gave me the look of a classic statue. Plus, it was the easiest paint to find, and something about the gleaming bronze just felt right.
So, I became the Bronze Cowboy, standing still like the statue I had once admired in Vancouver. But instead of a squirt gun, I’d tip my hat or spin my pistol when someone came close. The stillness that used to feel impossible now became my way of finding peace—a moment of calm in a world that often felt overwhelming.
Being a living statue became more than just a performance; it was my meditation, my way of connecting with the world, and a reminder of how a simple trip to Vancouver, a little brotherly push, and the challenges of the pandemic, inspired a lifelong passion.
I am my own show fully prepared for most conditions. Prefer shady areas or indoors to stay cool in the summer and warm in the winter.
