Overview
I now offer 3 different types of Latin groups:
1. The "CAMELIA LATIN DANCE TRIO or QUARTET or QUINTET" has vocals and plays lively and danceable songs in the styles of salsa (or son cubano), merengue, bachata, cumbia & bolero.
2. The "CAMELIA LATIN-JAZZ TRIO or QUARTET" performs instrumental (no singing) jazz standards using Latin rhythms, creating a "non-boring" atmosphere without being overpowering and is very appropriate as background music.
3. "TRIO or CUARTETO CAMELIA y su JAZZ LATINO" is the Spanish version of the Latin jazz band. It performs popular Spanish songs but with Latin jazz arrangements.

The idea you suggested of playing Latin jazz in the 1st set and then dance music as a trio for the 2nd set worked out great. The Latin Dance Band has now officially also a trio size.

We hired Camelia Latin Dance Band for an afternoon concert in a Lowell park, with another band and salsa lessons. It was a lovely afternoon and the music was great!

We had a cultural event and the band was the perfect fit - the music was just right - engaging and celebratory. We had lighter acoustic music during dinner and then dancing music after. The band was very flexible in accommodating a change in time the day before. A really wonderful band that made our event special and memorable!

What to Expect

From the "Camelia LATIN DANCE Band" or "Camelia y su GRUPO BAILABLE", expect classic Latin oldies: merengues, bachatas, salsas, cumbias, and boleros, with vocals, and created for dance purposes.

SUMMARY OF THE BANDS.
1. The "Camelia LATIN-JAZZ Band" or its Spanish version "Camelia y su JAZZ LATINO".
* GENERAL STYLE - smooth Latin rhythms with jazz improvisation at the desired volume.
* SPECIFIC STYLES - instrumental salsa, merengue, bachata, cumbia and boleros, with jazz solos.
* SIZES: trio (3-piece), quartet (4-piece), quintet (5-piece), sextet (6-piece).
* APPROPRIATENESS - appropriate for low-volume live background music type of occasions, like cocktail hours, dinners, social gatherings, etc.
* INSTRUMENTATION - for the trio we use nylon-string guitar, keyboard + 1 hand percussion (congas or bongos).
* SONG LIST - for a mostly English-speaking public we use standard jazz songs but performed with Latin rhythms; for a predominantly Spanish-speaking public, we perform Spanish songs but with Latin-jazz arrangements.

* INSTRUMENTATION - the quartet uses: bass, lead vocal, keyboard, 2 percussions, and 2 background vocals; for the quintet, we add an additional percussion.

Influences & Inspiration
The CAMELIA LATIN-JAZZ BAND was the result of a vision for a group that plays jazz standards with only Latin rhythms, or popular Latin songs with only Latin-jazz arrangements.
The CAMELIA LATIN CLASSICS was born out of the necessity of having a group for performing Latin dance music, and Latin classics and oldies were chosen for its repertoire.

For halls of 150 people or more: an outsource PA-system of at least 8 input channels.
