Overview
The Capitol Carolers are an a cappella "Victorian" caroling group that sings in the District of Colombia, Maryland and Northern Virginia (DMV) area. With 20 professional and semi-professional singers we can cater to both small and large events. We sing a range of traditional holiday carols, festive holiday music and Chanukah songs and can provide standard concerts, background ambiance and roam around a venue as needed. We normally sing in Victorian Costumes but can also perform in modern Christmas attire if needed.

We had 4 carolers come for our faculty/staff Christmas party and they were such a lovely addition! They were a surprise to everyone so seeing everyone's surprise coming into the event and seeing them in their caroling attire was so fun. I do wish I had microphones for them since we did have a big crowd and they were harder to hear when the room filled up but they moved around the room to sing in different spots which was a fantastic solution! They were even able to get some staff participation when they handed over some bells to a co-worker which was very entertaining! Overall a lovely addition to the event.

Amy and Sharon did an amazing job. They were kind, professional, and very entertaining. My family really enjoyed joining in on the fun with bells they rang during certain songs. This is our second time hiring the Capitol Carolers and as expected it was an amazing experience. Professional, good communication, on time, very talented and just so much fun!! Our guests look forward to this party (as do we) and we are all in the Christmas Spirit now. I highly recommend this group - it will elevate any party to a truly festive gathering! All went perfectly for our event, made all the more memorable by the wonderful, melodic, and practiced voices of this group. Those in attendance have sent raves and even some who didn't attend have expressed regret at not being there. The period costumes were "frosting on the cake". I've had many ask if we can book them again and wonder at how I found them. I'm almost embarrassed to say how easy & smooth it was to work with GigSalad and with Bernard Kellett. So everybody involved can be proud!

My guests were delighted to be met as they arrived with holiday music sung a cappella, by Bernie Kellett and Stephanie Offutt as they stood on the stairs overlooking the foyer. One young man even whisked his mother into the foyer for a private dance. As guests mingled, Bernie and Stephanie continued to enchant us with their voices. They greeted us in song as we surrounded the table laden with holiday desserts in the dining room. They had a following as they performed Broadway hits and other music of the season in the living room. The" Evening of Elegance"was taken to another level by Stephanie and Bernie's magical voices and performance. It was my pleasure to have them with us for the evening.

What to Expect
The carolers typically sing in groups of four, three or two, and can provide a wide range of traditional Christmas Carols such as Silent Night and Good King Wenceslas, holiday music and some Chanukah songs. We can and have provided larger groups when needed.
We will come to your event in Victorian Costume and we sing in concert style, or as background ambiance, or indeed roaming around a venue singing to different groups as needed. We are always willing to try and meet any special requirements you may have for your event. If you are staging a larger event and have a sound system we are happy to use it otherwise we will sing a cappella and without amplification. Likewise we will sing in modern clothing if that is your preference.
We take a 10 minute break at the end of each hour of singing but we can use the break to move to a new part of your venue if that is what you want us to do.
We charge a standard rate for most events but for events with a long travel time or on Christmas Eve we charge an additional fee
The second and subsequent hours of an event are charged at a lower rate than our base one hour cost and after the first hour you can add time by the minute and the cost for that hour is charged in proportion to the time used.
We do perform both indoors and outside, however, at our discretion, we will not sing outside in rain or extremely cold weather unless under shelter or in the case of cold weather unless we are provided with heating.
About
Bernie Kellett, tenor, has performed solo roles in both Europe and the United States in a wide variety of light operas and musicals. Currently, he performs with the Capitol Carolers, and as a solo performer.
The Capitol Carolers have 20 professional and semi-professional singers who come together from that last week in November through Dec 24 to sing Carols, Holiday music and Chanukah songs.
Our a cappella pieces can be performed with or without amplification depending on venue.
