Captain Awkwardman (Thomas Coleman) has created a one-of-a kind magic show that thrills both children and adults. The name "Captain Awkwardman" illustrates that when life gets awkward, creativity is born. Inspired by his dad the late Earle Coleman a.k.a. "Doc the Magician", Thomas combines comedy with expert sleight of hand. The result is an affordable, highly entertaining magic show that the kids (and parents) will be talking about for a long time!
We all loved his tricks. The primary audience were my 4 year old kid and his friends. The show was for a negotiated time off for 35 minutes. Magician was able to hold the audience and pull back the young ones attention when required. If I had to redo I might go over the heart of a 25 minute show for the 4 year olds. Overall both kids and adults loved it and I would highly recommend him

My show runs around 45 min. in length. A lot of magicians like to see how much time they can "milk" out of one effect. Some will do four tricks in 40 min. I like to do about 15 tricks into this time frame. Cards, coins, silks, ropes, an alien, money, dental floss, a realistic raccoon, puppetry, a coloring book, and a few other props make up the show.I incorporate the classics of magic with my own ideas to create a unique presentation. My show also involves a fair share of audience participation. I enjoy keeping the kids guessing. One moment I'm dropping something and the next a fork is bending on its own inside the clenched hand of a child. One minute they're laughing and the next it's silent. I like for my show to be dynamic-not a bunch of monotonous patter.
I grew up in a magical household. My father was a magician and at the age of seven I started opening some of his shows. I've also been performing music around Richmond for the past thirty years. Some refer to me as a "mugician":). For over a decade I've been teaching elementary school music. This gig has enabled me to pinpoint exactly what type of magic tricks kids love. I have high school students visit me and they can still tell me what tricks they saw when they were in kindergarten. Although my show is catered to kids, I get a lot of positive feedback from the adults as well. My ultimate goal is to carry on my family tradition, create memories, and inspire my audience while doing so.
I have everything I need for the show in my vehicle. I arrive 30 min. ahead of time to set up.

My dad is my biggest influence. I've learned that keeping the show affordable and putting on a consistently awesome performance will keep the gigs coming in.
