If you want an actual band with real musical chemistry and a deep repertoire of originals and covers spanning most American music styles--including pop, funk, blues, rock, rhythm & blues, soul, cajun, country, jam band stuffs, fusion, reggae, and even New Orleans jazz and some modern jazz--look no further!
We play all types of shows, from bar gigs & listening rooms to festival sets, wedding gigs and private events. About
Captain Buckles.
A no-nonsense band of working sidemen, championing good vibes and an intense love of music.
Its members have been heavily involved in the New Orleans music scene for many years. Although the band regularly plays its original punk-funk-rock-blues repertoire, they love eclectic covers and New Orleans rhythm & blues, funk, and soul, often delving into pop and blues as well as psychedelic jams when the spirit moves them there.
Their gumbo includes transplants Smitti Supab (bass, vocals), Alex Mallet (guitar, vocals), Phil Breen (keys), and New Orleans-born Tyler Clements (drums, vocals) & Rob Davis (multi-instrument) who bring the essential local spice and heritage! Its members have played extensively with local luminaries such as Eric Lindell, Samantha Fish, John ‘Papa’ Gros, Russell Batiste, James Andrews, Glen David Andrews, Mem Shannon, Michael Darby (Irene & the Mikes), Ernie Vincent, Dave Easley, plus many others, but formed their own band to get that fire chemistry, more musical freedom, and a vibe going between everyone.
Captain Buckles regularly goes on mini-tours to Charleston, SC and Key West, FL, playing venues like the Green Parrot and Charleston Pour House. With members hailing all the way from California to Florida, the coming together of different backgrounds, ages, and experience to support the making of music together often makes for explosive dynamics on stage, and always makes for a truly fun and joyful time. Attendees to live shows often don't know what hit 'em, but they feel it!
Additional Booking Notes
For gigs that are within driving distance, the band requires:
- Two, 20 Amp 110 volt dedicated circuits within 25 feet of the band (preferably). These dedicated circuits should not be shared with catering, lighting or other power needs. For outdoor functions a GFI circuit (ground fault interrupter) is required for the safety of the artists during rain and thunderstorms. If one cannot be provided, please be aware that performance may be interrupted until the threat of electrical shock is over.
- When using generators, a 6000-watt generator with two 20 amp 110-volt duplex outlets is recommended. Total distance from power source (generator) should not exceed 25’.

For shows that we have to fly to, we will need PA equipment that can be discussed in the rider.
