With 10 years as a Marine Corps Officer, 5 as an Amazon leader, and 3 as a million dollar contracting business owner, Jake is a corporate executive who has launched and served in organizations across the globe, from Afghanistan to Sweden. With a master's in organizational leadership and pending master's in marriage and family therapy, he specializes in the narratives we create for ourselves, how to break out of negative ones, and how leaders can create loyalty and enthusiasm in their workforce.
Jake came to our school to speak to two separate groups of students. He tailored his message to meet the needs of each group, was very easy to work with, and was able to adapt to the craziness of our schedule.

Jake provides an engaging, humorous, truth-telling experience, with insights into human nature, the strains our organizational hierarchies put us through, and how managers can learn to be better leaders. He's especially inspiring for new graduates, managers who are seeking purpose, and professionals looking to transition into new adventures.
Jake is a globally experienced leader and HR expert in the tech industry. His professional focus revolves around leadership impact on teams, the value of truth-telling within organizations, and how executive leaders can recognize and treat toxic management.
He obtained his bachelors of science in Psychology from Utah State University and began a masters in Industrial/Organizational Psychology before realizing his education was dangerously exceeding his life experience. With that, he commissioned as an officer in the US Marine Corps and deployed to Afghanistan with Second Battalion Eighth Marines, then again as a security force advisor. He completed a masters in Organizational Leadership and HR Management from Colorado State University. Transferring to the Marine Corps Reserves, he then took the role as the California/Nevada HR Manager for Praxair Distribution before taking an HR leadership role with Amazon in California and Sweden, where he was a key in launching the Nordic region for Amazon Web Services. He also founded CareerFlex and LifeFlex LLCs, where he offers executive coaching, career guidance, and deep coaching.
Further, Jake redesignated his Marine Corps professional focus and became a Civil Affairs Officer, where he deployed to the Philippines to execute humanitarian assessments. While there, he met a family whose oldest daughter was being targeted by a human trafficking syndicate. He and his wife made the decision to help her get into college in the Philippines, for which they maintain funding currently.
Jake lives in Sweden and Montana, USA with his wife, three sons, baby daughter, and two dumb dogs, where they are building a homestead and retreat to support and help combat veterans, law enforcement, human trafficking victims, and others who have had first-hand experience with violence and trauma. He is currently completing licensure requirements for a masters in Marriage and Family Therapy.
My preference is to have a place to walk around on stage and it is especially nice if I can walk down into the audience. I prefer to have a wireless earpiece.
